Does anyone have an idea?
Hi guys I'm new to the site although I've been working on trying to get this surgery for 3 years now. I got a letter from georgetown bariactrics that I have insurance coverage. we have humana choice care ppo. I go for my prelimanaries appointments on april 24 after approved by the insurance how long is it usually before you have the surgery ? I meant to ask Tonya but was so excited I forgot. I thought maybe someone here could give me an idea.
thanks
melinda
You have to get a psych eval that will happen at Georgetown. Then you'll need a stress test, ekg, & echogram. After you get all your pre-op tests done they get you in there very quickly. I was in surgery within 2 weeks. You have to be smoke free for 2 months I think. It depends on what your insurance requires too. Best of luck to you! I had a bypass done in March & I've lost 38 lbs. so far. The Dr.s & staff at Georgetown are the best.
Hi Melinda,
I too, have Humana Choice Care PPO. Humana DID require me to first have a 6 mos medically guided diet beforehand. That was WITH co morbidities. However, if you have co morbids that are pretty severe they may waive that requirement...not sure. I would give Georgetown a call and ask the insurance cordinator. That person should be able to tell you what Humana requires.
Keep in mind that your policy may also have different requirements than mine. I hope you get your surgery soon! Good Luck!
