A question!

I'm probably gonna aggervate ya'll to death now that I have had surgery. Okay, here goes. I am doing pretty good getting in my protein and my fluids. I am up to about 55-60 oz a day fluids and right at 60g of proteins a day. Now, my doc allowed me to start pureeds when I came home. By the way thanks to everyone who answered my questions about THAT! lol. Anyways, I am eating somewhere around 3 tablespoons of food, maybe twice a day but usually only once a day. I am NOT drinking for a hour afterwards. But it seems like I could eat WAY more than 3 measly tablespoons. I mean, I don't feel full at all! If I do get to feeling the least bit full I am usually hungry again within 2 hours. Could it be that my pouch is still "numb" from the surgery, or just not as responsive yet since I am still healing, so I am not getting that full feeling? Is it OK to eat more than once or twice a day? If I have a protein shake at breakfast, is it OK to have some cottage cheese a bit later? I know, I will DEFINITELY talk to my surgeon when I follow up next week, but was just wondering ya'lls opinions! Thanks!

first congrats on your surgery I never felt the full feeling until i was well over 2 yrs post op. Some do and some don't. You need to eat more than once or twice a day. I personally ate 3 times a day (or tried to) with a snack (cottage cheese, low sugar yogurt etc). Hopefully you will be able to get the answers you want from your surgeon. But i do think eating only once or twice a day isn't enough. good luck KK @goal

hi hillbilly!!!!!!! glad to see ya made it home....well i ate as much broth and soups as i wanted when i came home.....for breakfast i would have a protein drink warmed up with milk,i use gnc protein gold standard whey 28 gms, then i would drink that over an hr...then i would drink water, juice, hot tea,but i would have about 1oz of soup around lunch, and i would have cream of mushroom soup, brocc chedder soup, its hard at first to judge how much we can eat because everyone is diff, but i never got full at first. But when you start eating more dense foods you will get full. Chili or chicken is a filling food. I would eat 3 times a day with 3 snacks like jello,sf pudding, cool whip lite mixed with cream cheese. Your pouch is still healing so just go slow and you'll be fine. If ya have any questions email me.................vickie r.
