We have performed lap band surgery on patients who have had coronary artery bypass grafting and those who have had multiple heart stents, among other heart problems. The issue becomes if your heart and/or lungs are strong enough to withstand the effects of anesthesia (being put to sleep). That's the big concern.
Patients who were too sick to withstand gastric bypass are almost always a candidate for lap band surgery due to short anesthesia times versus the bypass proceedure. If you have a diagnosed heart condition, your cardiologist would have to provide a letter of support, and then your surgeon would take everything in to consideration. Most likely, won't be a problem, depending on your exact heart condition.
