Hello everyone its me... I am all ready for my surgery. My insurance company told my surgeon that they covered the surgery. After I did a million tests, they go to submit everything to anthem bc/bs and they tell them not to bother, I have an exclusion and they can't even do anything. I got in touch with the obesity lawyer, he said when you have an iron clad exclusion like i did, you really can't fight it. so here i am, all ready to go, ( I even have that blood clot filter in) and no way to pay for surgery. I have been to vocational rehab, but not heard anything. someone suggested Ky access, but I cant find anyone who had it and got the wls. to make matters worse, I had a stroke last summer, i had physical therapy. I have a big long list of co-morbs, i still have right side weakness, and walk funny, and can you beleive that after seven months i got denied disability? even though my doctor said I can't work? what do i do now? any suggestions??? I need this surgery. I can't give up. thanks for listening.... Kim

Hi Kim, Do you have any options for self pay? Perhaps the doctors office will let you finance, or maybe do a home equity line on your home if you own it? Do you have any retirement money socked away? (I hate to adivse that, as a financial consultant, but there are times when you have to dip into it!) Perhaps a 401k from a old job etc? Be aware there would be tax consequence but heck, whats more important, your health or taxes?

Kim, I have Ky. Access and they paid for my surgery. It depends a lot on your Doctors office to get it approved. Email me if you have any questions. Becca

Hi kim. I recently had my RNY paid for by ky depart of vocational rehab. It was a long and tedious process but in the end it all worked out. You need to find the nearest voc. Rehab office and speak to someone who they will assign as your counselor. Your couselor should then be able to tell you more about the process and what is required to get the process rolling. Hope this helps. Sandra
