It's been about 9 months since I was last here. this is a new username as I couldn't remember my old one. I ended up leaving the board when my insurance company refused all tries at helping to pay for WLS. I gave up on the idea and joined WW. I did well for a while. But once I had lost 35lbs. It just quit coming off. I kept up with exercising and eating right but I just kept taking off and putting on the same 5 lbs. I got frustrated and financially I couldn't attend WW meetings anymore so I pretty much gave up. I'm doing points on my own and still working out but nothing is happening. It's as if my body said, "I don't think I want you to be healthy." So hear I sit having gained back 10lbs. I'm depressed and just don't know what to do anymore. Possible One reason for coming back is that SIL told me she heard that the Bariatric Center in Georgetown Ky was advertising that they were doing a study and looking for people to volunteer to have the lapband. She's suppose to get the number for me to call. I'm hoping she is right. I would very willingly be a test subject for the study. I want to lose the weight no matter what. I just can't seem to do it with food management and exercise anymore. Anyone hear of this? Mary

Hi Mary, Welcome back to the board..Please know you are always welcome here surgery or not!! When I read this post it caught me off guard. I was just in Georgetown last week spending the day with Dr. Oldham and Dr. Weiss, they never mentioned this to me..so before I replied I called Dr. Weiss personally. He sends his sincere apologies if there is an advertisement that could be misleading, (please let me know where your SIL heard or saw this) this needs to be taken care of right away.. Georgetown Bariatrics (Dr. Weiss and Dr. Oldham) are not looking for volunteers for the lapband surgery..and do not intentionally have such an ad running.. I am so sorry Mary, I am sure you had your hopes up. I sent you a direct email. Take care Brenda

Mary: Just read your post and as a representative of The Bariatric Center, I can tell you we are not looking for test subjects for the Lap Band (R). We are not in to testing products on our patients. Inamed did this for us in Europe and Australia when they did Lap Band (R) trials there. The Lap Band(R) is a very successful and proven WLS tool that we offer our patients in addition to the gastric bypass procedure. I hope you will send some information as to where you heard or saw this mis-information so we can address it. There are financing options available for the Lap Band procedure if you are interested. Please call our office at: 888.868.0008 for more information. If you can email me where you heard or saw the information which mislead you, please email me directly at: [email protected] Thanks, Cathi Roskind,RN Education/Support Coordinator
