Scared
Diane,
I read your posted reply to Kira and I feel that I am in the same boat as you. Yes, there are complications and I am a little scared, but I also know that my quality of life has changed so drastically, that I also have no choice. The surgery is something that I WANT, I know that if I don't have it, my quality of life will be so poor that I will be a burden to my family and I can't have that. I had gastroplasty in 1981 and so this is considered a revision of sorts, but I'm very comfortable with Dr. Geller and he has answered my questions very honestly. Myra Proctor
Kira,
First let me extend my condolences to you about your friend, she was looking for a better quality health and through no fault of anyone complications arose.
But, I have to say that at this point in my life, my body is in such pain from carrying this weight that if I have an opportunity at a normal life again I am going to grab it. Do surgeries come with a risk...yes, but so does crossing the street! Half the battle of bariatric surgery is to maintain a positive frame of mind. Remember "reach for a star and hope you land on the moon"!
