Surgeons in East KY

Do any of you know of a good surgeon in East Ky? I have heard of lots from central and West but thats an awful long drive for me. I've also heard about one in Louisa KY Dr. Laura Velcu @ Three Rivers Medical Center.. Have any of you heard anything about her? Or know someone that has used her previously? Any info you can give me will be so helpful Thanks Katrina

Ok so I live in Louisville and East for me would be Lexington. I had my surgery done on Nov 4th at St Joseph's East Hospital. My doctor was Dr. Steiner and he is awesome. He is with the St Joseph's Center for Weight Loss Surgery and everyone at that place is great. You might want to research them. I cant say enough great things about them all. Good Luck Sherri

i also would recommend my surgeon, Dr. Steiner in lexington at the center for WLS. St. Joseph East out on Richmond road where the old Humana hospital was years ago. Great doctors and other staff. Wonderful follow up program. Many patients have come to him from your area. They also carpool to the support meetings.

Well I live in paintsville and I went to a doctor in hunnington.Dr.Nease and I think he`s great.He really seems to care about his patients.I haven`t heard of that doctor they got in lousia.All I know about her is she hasn`t been there long.I guess it all depends on where you want to go and what kind of insurance you have.Hope that helps. I read some of ur replies, and one mentioned, Dr. Nease at Cabell Huntington. This man is a very compassionate person. I am exactly 4 months out. down 82 lbs, 5 sizes and I feel wonderful. I almost chickened out, the day of the surgery. I was lying there, waiting, cos he had someone in there before me. He finally came out, talked to me, calmed me down, and im doing so good. I would definetely recommend Dr. Blaine Nease. you can email me, i can give u his number. His staff is also great. if i had to do it all over, i would go to him again. sabrina

I live in Knott county and I went to Dr. Thomas Greenlee, an excellent surgeon, at St. Joseph East in Lexington. I have had 10 surgeries in the past and have been in many hospitals, but the St. Joseph system far surpasses any of the others I have ever experienced. They treat the patient and the patient's family like welcome guests and go out of their way to make the stay a pleasant one for all involved. Gastric bypass surgery is a serious operation and definitely not one that I would have done locally. I realize that everyone has to make their own decisions, but my advice to you would be to find the most qualified surgeon and the best hospital possible. Good luck and God Bless you. Viv
