Hey everyone, my hair was falling out pretty bad but it slowed down and its not falling out as bad. My problem now is, its so thin! I had gotten it cut shorter in July and it hadn't grown much at all. Yesterday I had it trimmed because it was too long to style and too short to do much else with. Is there anything out there to help boost it back up? I used to have thick hair whether it was long or short and now its thin. The lady who cut my hair wanted me to buy something from her salon, Nioxin (sp?) Is there anything that has helped put life back into your alls hair? Thanks Angela Open RNY 3/24/05 313/201/150? -112

Unless you have money to burn, don't buy Nioxin from the salon. There is a generic called Nutri-Ox that can be purchased from Sally's Beauty supply that is MUCH cheaper and does the same thing. It helps slow down hair loss but it doesn't do much of anything for the appearance of the hair. I have found a product that has made my much thinner and rather lifeless dry looking hair look and feel wonderful again. It's by AVON, called Advance Techniques age defying leave in treatment with biotin. With the first application (it can be used on wet or dry hair) there was a very noticeable difference. My hair looked thicker, was shinier and softer. It's very inexpensive, about $3.99 a tube, I think is what I paid. Rhonna

I use Nioxin but I bought a wig to get me thru this bad spot. It really improved my self-image. Good luck. Kathy O.

I tried the Nioxin but it seemed to make my hair dried out. I started taking Biotin once in the morning and once at night and I really think it has helped. I have been taking it for about 3 months now. It didn't thicken up over night but it sure is a lot better then it was in August (when my hair was the thinnest).
