confused pre-op, need help!!!

Can someone help me? Need some answers and getting the run around with the dr. office. Im going thru dr. shina, and im still waiting on my 3 evals, 2 out of 3 evals are $150 all together but unable to pay at this time. But called my insurance (medicaid) and told them, they told me that they will pay for it long as the office will bill them and the dr. office said no? Is there any way I can get this done so I can have my surgery? Nicole Wilson

If the Dr accepts medicaid as payment in full (a participating Dr) I thought they had to?? Call Dr. Shina's office and talk to the nurse that does referral appts. Maybe they can help. Dr. Shina did my surgery and EVERYONE in his office was GREAT!! Good Luck! & Blessings TOnya

Hello Nicole I am a patient of Dr. Shina and I also have medicaid. I know I had to pay $75 for the pre admission class (pac class) and I had to pay $75 for the nutritional evaluation. They do not accept medicaid for those 2 things. You have to pay upfront for those. All of the other evaluations and tests are covered by medicaid. I FEEL WHAT U R SAYIN BUT WHEN I TALKED TO MEDICAID AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY COVERED MY EVALS ALL 3 BUT DR. SHINA'S OFFICE SAID THAT THEY COULD NOT BILL MEDICAID. Honey I feel your pain. I am wanting to have surgeyr through Dr. Sonnanstine. I am also a Medicaid patient. Dr. Sonnanstine has a $500 program fee. I am a single mother, full time college student, and I am broke. I now have to find another surgeon that will help me out because I am very broke. I just received an email from Dr. Shina, and they said the same thing. So right now I am in the same boat you're in. Anyone with suggestions, I will take them all. I am from Somerset KY. I found a sugeon in Corbin Ky, that accepts medicaid. When I called, they didn't say anything about program fees or anything. He is a general surgeon, and not from a Bariatric program. I will take a second rate surgeon and hospital. He is a good surgeon, just not one from a "special Bariatric clinic." If I don't have to pay anything out of pocket, then I will take what I can get. I can't complain too much.You can't have your cake and eat it too. It is Dr. George Liu. His number is (606)-526-9977.
