Hello My surgery date is nov. 29th. I live about 2 1/2 hours from louisville, where i will be haveing my surgery. Should i be concerned about the distanced post-op? Never really thought about it till i was reading in weight loss surgery book that some drs. have you to stay in a local hotel, after the hospital discharges you, for a few days if you live so far from the hospital. Has anyone had this experience? Thanks D.

Hi, I also live about 2 1/2 hours away from louisville. thats why i changed to another surgeon. It's just too far to drive to all the post op appointments for me so i'm going to a place much closer. I don't think you would have to stay in a hotel afterwards, I think thats just for people that live really far away. Just see what they say. goodluck with your surgery

I had my surgery in Dayton which is 3 hours away from Lexington. My surgeon recommended I stay in the Dayton area for 2 weeks. I booked an extended stay hotel. Don't tell, but I sneaked home after only 2 days in the hotel and just returned for my 2 week checkup. -joanne s 277/160/150

Hello D I am about an hour and a half from Louisville which is where I had my surgery as well. I was not asked to stay in a hotel. I came home 4 days after surgery and went for my first check up appointment on the 24th. Good Luck hun ~Gina 276/250/145

I only live about 3 minutes from Louisville, but decided to have my surgery in Georgetown, which is a little over 1 1/2 hours away because of the surgeon choice. I'll only be in the hospital 2 nights and then home!!!

Hello all Thanks for the tips. I am quite new to the message boards and the other night i couldn't seem to get anything to go right for me. First i couldn't find my post, then i couldn't get it to open. It was coming up that an error had occured. Is this sometimes normal? Then after i did get it to open it wouldn't let me post a reply. I think i have got it figured out though now. Thanks again D
