Hi Laurie! I think there are folks that have had both done, but you might repost this on the main board rather than the KY board, ok?

Laurie, Having both done at the same time is very common. Many WLS patients in their first year after surgery will drop in excess on 100 pounds. Your gallbladder is used to process this 100 pounds of fat. If you have had any problems with your gallblader prior to surgery, you have stones, or a history in your family the surgeon will remove it at the same time as your WLS surgery. The added time of surgery is short compared to the posiblity to having to take you back into surgery 6 weeks to anytime after WLS to remove it. Different surgeon have different policies with dealing with gallbladder, some take them all out, some take out only sick ones. Recovery time does not increase at all. This actually saves you time, if you needed it out later would be another surgery and recovery time. I hope this helps. Monica
