I had my surgery 12-13-04. My surgeon was Dr. Oldham at the Georgetown Bariatric Center. I researched for over a year and with all I found GBC was the best, and it didn't hurt any that Dr. O was from my hometown of Owensboro, Kentucky. I knew from the beginning I wanted the RNY and would do it again with GBC in a heartbeat. I have lost 85 pounds to date at 10 months out and approximately 51" I have gone from a 3x - 4x down to a Large and size 14 - 16 depending on the cut. I have even lost a 1/2 a shoe size. Everyone was super fantastic at GBC and I mean everyone from Insurance, pre-op, and post-op. From talking to others here in Owensboro that have had the surgery, not everyone was or is instructed on as many facits as GBC provides, which now I know is even more important than I originally thought prior to surgery. I highly recommend GBC, and their support board to anyone. I truley feel that God sent me to them and they lived up to what I feel was meant for me. Kathie 269.5 / 182 / 145

On July 11th Dr. Dereck Weiss of the Georgetown Bariatric Center in Georgetown, KY did my lap RNY. I had some complications: dehydration, anemia, electroyte imbalance, cellulitis from one of the incision sites that required a second surgery, Type I Insulin Dependent Diabetes, and some diabetic nephropathy. Dr. Weiss was very professional and attentive. He was determined I would leave the hospital a week later in much better health than I had when I walked in. After discharge from the hospital he saw me twice a week for two weeks then every two weeks through yesterday. I am now feeling the best I have felt in several years and I'm down 40 pounds. The after care has been fantastic, lots of support, education and genuine care for me as a person. My insulin needs have dropped by half, blood pressure is great and all of my lab results are definitely better. Dr. Weiss and his partner Dr. John Oldham are simply wonderful and highly skilled. Throughout the process I was never afraid because I felt I was being cared for by highly competent caring people who have the highest integrity. -- Linda
