Greetings I am 1 year out as of 4/23/05 I went from 370 pounds down to 230pounds, Wooooooohoooooo. As of 5/5/05 I am 13 weeks pregnant. I am losing weight not alot just couple pounds at a time, but there are alot of foods I still can't tolerate from the surgery. What would you recommend? Has anyone had a normal pregnancy after gastric bypass? Any help is appreciated. thanks. Donna

I know of a girl that got preggo about 9 months after surgery. She had a healthy baby boy several months ago. I would recommend talking to your surgeon and getting an ob/gyn that is familiar with either high risk pregnancies or one that is familiar with post-op WLS. Good luck!!!

ah well said Robin I have known 3 women who were preg within months after WLS..it seemed the baby sucked out all the nutrition and did fine..momma's were tired and had to adjust their diets but all did very well and delivered healthy babies. I too suggest you seek guidance from your surgeon..If your surgeon does not do follow up then you may want to seek someone who does. I know the surgeon in Florence, KY..Dr. Sonnanstine at St. Luke West puts on a presentation about pregnancy after surgery..he will be speaking tonight at the same hosp. good luck and I hope you have a wonderful experience..I am sure you will do fine..just don't forget to take care of you!
