May I recieve the packet contaning the information that I need to feel out and geather up for the doctors office by mail. Or do I have to attend a siminar on the surgery. I had a siminar to attend but got lost and missed it. now they don't know when it will be before I can get another appointment. My weight is taking me down fast. I really need to get things started. I need to about Norton Suburban Hospital in Louisville kentucky. Please help me if you can. Thank you very much. Sharon Hicks
Sharon, I don't know anything about the Louisville program. But, I liked the St. Joseph East and the doctors associated with it. I do know however, that most doctors want you to come to a siminar and decide if the surgery is right for you after, finding out all the truths including the death rate among surgical patients. Some may send you the forms and let you fill out part of them. But you will have to attend an informational meeting.

Sharon,
If you can make it to Lexington on Friday evening, Georgetown Bariatrics is having a Seminar at the Marriot in Lexington at 7:00. It may not be the specific program you want, (although it is a wonderful one, with great aftercare) but you can at least get information.
They have plenty of people from the Louisville area. Check out their website at http://www.georgetownbariatrics.com/
I was banded in Sept. and have found them to be very supportive, with their own message board, support group meetings and 24/7 nursing access.
Good Luck,
Pat
I also went through the St. Joseph's East program. The introduction seminar was the starting point, they really wouldn't talk about the program without going to that first. It was very informative and they had some appointment times available that you could sign up for right then if you decided it was for you. From the time of my informational seminar to my surgery date was 32 days. If you want them to, they really can move you along quickly! I have been extremely satisfied with not only the pre-op program and actual surgery, but their after care support is one of the best!

I also went to St.Jo, East. They are the best. The hospital staff was great and the Surgeons are just so supportive. Rhonna~P and I had surgery one day apart we went to the seminar on the same night and most our appointments where the same days and we got to walk to gether and chat together in the hospital. My surgery was 33 days after the seminar. I can't say enough good things about The Center for weightloss they are awesome.

Sharon, I am going through Norton Suburban Hospital in Louisville. I have chosen Dr. Shina. He has a wonderful track record with this surgery and a great reputation. He has done well over 1000 of these surgerys. He is a very down to earth person and will tell you like it is. He will not *****foot around the truth. He really seems to care about his patients. There are many seminars on going at the hospital. I was at one in October and plan on going to the next one on Nov. 17th that is at 6p.m. If you go to www.louisvillebariatric.com or rightweigh.com you can find a list of times and dates for seminars. They have them in the morning and in the evening. When the seminar is over they have the packets that you need to begin your journey...that is where I am...I am at the packet point and I'm getting more excited day after day! If you need directions or someone to go with, I'd be glad to meet you somewhere. I live in Elizabethtown. Dr. Shina is always at the meetings along with Dr. Geller. They usually have a support group meeting afterwards with people that are post-op and they will answer any question you may have. Think about it...good luck!
