APPEAL, APPEAL, APPEAL. I have seen many get approved after appeals. They just want you to go away. Keep fighting Linda Pat

don't give up. I don't know why the people that get denied can't sue for discrimination. If they do it for one insured person they should have to do it for all that meet their criteria

Linda, DON"T give up. Fight it. Also, all states have what is called a rehab program which will actually pay for WLS if you agree to work, and not try to draw disability. I'm not sure exactly what it is called, but i'm sure if you inquire on the main board, someone can give you the specifics. Good Luck.... Jenni

Linda, I found out today that I was denied too. I am going to appeal the ruling. If my appeal is denied, I am going to have it reviewed by the Kentucky Board of Insurance. They can reverse Humana's decision, if they want to. This surgery is medically necessary for me as well as for you. I don't see how they can deny people that really need the surgery. They deny it based on exclusions in your contract. Well, I guess I will have a heart attack and let them pay $150,000 for bypass surgery. That will teach them a lesson. I think that eventually all insurance companies will start paying for it because new medical information is coming out about the benefits of weight loss surgery. There was that special on NBC the other night and they are now starting to recognize obesity as a disease. Let me know if I can help you, but I am going to appeal this. I am not giving up. Thanks, Adrian
