Anyone have Humana Ins.??

I have Humana PPO Choicecare coverage. Dr. Shina's office should be filing papers now for approval. I had my 1st consult on 10-26-04. How long did it take you to hear from Humana?? I'm hoping to have the surgery over Christmas break. I work in the county school system and the timing would be great. What has been your experience with Humana?? Thanks & Blessings Tonya

Hi Tonya I have Humana and had my consult with Dr. Shina on 11/02. I was told by Glenna that Humana now requires a 6mo diet history (supervised). But when I called Humana, I was told that was news to them. So I'm kinda stuck. Shina's office won't submit the paperwork without the 6 mo diet history, and I can't get the 6 mo diet history because I only have till 01/05 to get approved. Just wondered if you've heard anything like this? Linda

Hi Linda I have not heard of that one! Have you called Dr. Shina's office and explained to them what Humana told you?? I would start there first. I know that I have a lengthy diet history, not all was dr. supervised?? I think weigh****chers is good documention. Would Humana send you a letter or copy of your policies requirements for WSL?? Once you had a copy of your policies requirements you could fax that to Dr. Shina's office. Maybe Humana could fax the info to Dr. Shina?? I trying to think of anything that may help you. Glenda argued with me for days before i went over her head, that my insurance wouldn't cover it and I had called them and everything. i finally had to go over Glenda's head. I believe it is her sister that is the office manager. I filed a huge complaint then i decided to go to another doc because they were so slow on my tests and everything.

Hello Tonya, I have Humana insurance and actually had my first visit with Dr. Lusco on September 30. They submitted my paperwork on about Oct 10. I had a response last Friday. They did approve it, but when I went for my pre-op test, the girls told me that if you were not approved by last Friday, that Humana is starting to follow new guidelines (?) whatever they may be. She stated that it will be harder to get an approval. Good luck with the insurance and the surgery. My surgery is scheduled on the 17th of this month at Caritas, (along with Deb Thompson). Hi Deb.
