questions...
I had surgery last Monday. Things went ok. I am just tired, sore and more tired. I also am amazed how this has affected me psychologically. I thought I was prepared but I'm wondering if the tiredness and soreness will ever go away and if I'll ever be my old self. Not physically of course!! I wonder if I made the right decision, something so drastic etc. I read and re-read all the posts, info etc on the gastric by pass and know it won't always be like this but boy I am sure wondering when it will get better. I'm having a hard time getting the protein down, the flavors are so sweet. I am walking and getting rid of the gas but the drainage tube that is inside me still hurts. Did anyone else feel like this? Do you still think it was worth it?!
Stacy,
What you are feeling is very normal. You'll feel much better the minute that drain tube is out. I promise. The energy comes back & then some! As to the protein being so sweet, I agree. Are you making the mix that St. V's recommends? I did. I used either sf lemon or lime jello mix as the 'flavoring'. All the other recommended flavorings were either too sweet, too thick, or both.
Honey, check out my profile. Even though my journey has been far from complication free, I have not, nor have I ever, regretted the decision I made to have this life saving surgery. That first 4 weeks sucks. There's just no way around it. After that? WAY better!

Thanks so much for the help. This morning was bad but I think its cause I didn't drink anything at all before noon. I slept late. I went to the store and got dizzy. came home and have been drinking water and protein since so i feel better. i keep reading things get better and my husband tells me the same. he's four weeks out and i keep trying to be positive.
The day the drain tube comes out is the BEST!! and the first step of feeling normal again... tired... Mine wore off after about 3 weeks.. you just had MAJOR surgery.. It takes the body some good rest to heal.. give it what it needs sleep and heal!!
You really did do a good thing.. you will appreciate it in a few months when you are doing things you havent done in YEARS!!
Look up when you are in need!!
Linda
Stacy,
Sweetie,
What you are feeling is VERYnormal!!! I was so depressed and questioned all of my reasonings in those first 3-4 weeks. I am now about 17 months out and can tell ya for sure after about the 3 1/2 weeks I turned a corner and felt more energy and muh better about my decision! I am with ya on the drain tube. I still have mine in from my PS on the 8th and I can not wait for it to be removed, but understand that I need it there to do its course! After starting my journey at 334 lbs, a little over 17 months ago and having gone thus far on my journey, from a 5-6 X to a 16 currently and still swollen after PS, I am so grateful for this opportunity. I hope that your emotions will have settled here in a few weeks and that you too will be enjoying your new life and having many WOW moments to fill your days! Good luck and if you need to talk, vent, cry or rejoice, please do so. I will be here. You can PM me if you need to! Hugz Dawn
Stacy,
You know you aren't alone on this journey- we are all here for you.
I'm 19 mo. out, down 120# from 24-26 to 14's and have never regretted having this surgery.Sure, there were hadrd days at first, but it DOES get better!!!
I know in a few days you'll be saying " Wow, I feel so good- and am sooo glad I did this!!"
I think alot of folks feel overwhelmed at first with all of the things we have to do just to get thru the day-once you get the routine down, you'll do wonderful!
(((hugs)))
Ellen
