hope im not driving yall crazy..
I have questions that pop in my head during the day and have to ask
Are there any requirements for PFT (pulmonary function tests) scores pre-op?? I've had PFT's the past 3 days and have not gotten any higher than (1.9) 61% and that was a fluke test where I just happened to cough up some of the junk in my lungs and happened to get a good breath, the rest were hovering quite a bit lower 1.2-1.5 (which I'm not sure on the % for those just the nurse told me my 1.9 was 61%). So I'm just curious if this can hinder my chances of being able to have surgery??
Guess I should also say that my normal pft's are only around 70%

Don't worry about driving us crazy with questions... It is a short trip for most of us!!
Practice breathing!!! Take a deep breath thru your nose and let it out slowly thru your mouth!! If your not breathing deeply or well enough they may not let you have it for fear of Peumonia (sp).. You HAVE to practice with the spitomenter anyway before surgery and with all the weight we tend to get a little lazy on the breathing... PRACTICE alot daily!! YOU can build up your lung capisity!!
