Do yall know if my being told to follow a diabetic diet would be considered as a physician supervised diet? Ive also talked to a nutrionist once when diagnosed with diabetes (in nov of 04 and also last march, but i've also talked diet with the diabetes educator in my docs office in feb) or will i maybe have to do something more? I'm just curious? I saw a post on a different forum from someone who had her consult a couple months ago and had surgery today and soo I'm just wondering with my comorbidities if you all think I might be able to get my surgery without waiting like 6-12 months?? I have blue cross blue sheild, and theyve been good about other things in the past (i had to have xolair shots which is for asthma and allergies 1800 a shot each month and we were told that insurance fights it usually, but in my case they didn't fight it at all and i was approved a couple weeks later, i ended up having a reaction to it though soo im not on it anymore)?? Did any of you get approval quickly ?

Misty, I have Blue Cross Blue Shield of California and all I had to do was show my supervised diets and my co-morbidities and I was on my way. You should be able to call your insurance and se what they do require.. Once they faxed everything over I was approved inless than 24 hours. Hang in there and good luck Dawn

I have Anthem also and the only thing that I had were diets that I tried on my own. I didn't really have any supervised diets and I got approved!! 31 days to go & counting down

I was able to use my diabetic diet to meet the Dr supervised diet because I saw her every three months, primarily for tracking my blood pressure, but the fact that the visits were regular and she checked my blood work periodically for my sugar numbers seemed to be enough. Good luck to you. Cindy
