Am I jumping the gun or doing the right thing??

Sooo I was talking to my sister and she told me I was getting ahead of myself, I seen in the patient packet sent to me by St V's that I can schedule my Psych eval with someone other than Dr Stote or whateve the name is and I chose to call one of the local Psychiatrists and ask if they could do it or whatever and they scheduled me an appointment (for after my consult with Dr Cacucci) I understand this will put more responsibility on me as far as making sure that everyone gets the information they need but it beats having to fork out 115.00 (which can be hard to come by some weeks especially when I have to get my meds refilled) out of pocket on the spot. Because the Dr's office I contacted does bill insurance. Am I jumping the gun by scheduling this and wanting to hurry up the process, I already know I am a good candidate, I've been told so by my PCP and all. I just need some reassurance from y'all since you've been there?

I did mine in Ft. wayne because I couldn't see dr stote when I was down there. Contact St. V or Dr office and see if they have a form they would like the Psych to use for evaluating. It was either my sugeon or St. V that had a profile that they wanted the psych to use so it is compatible with Dr. Stotes reviews.

I don't think you're jumping the gun... I think youj're thinking ahead... making surea ll your ducks are in a row. You do definitely need to find out form the surgeon what they need but you should be able to get that information at the session when you have your one on one with the dr. BUt MOST insurance companies require that you have this done before they will approve you or not, so I say "NO you're not jumping the gun" Jessyca

Jumping the gun Seems to me that anything except scheduling the surgery before your insurance approves you would be considered A-OK to do! Especially when the packet says you can use someone other than the 'wonderful' Dr. Stote. I agree with Jan though. Call their office to be sure if they have a particular form to be filled out. Sherri

Misty, I would agree with the others. Sounds good and you're very motivated to continue on this journey. Keep us informed! Regina

I already know theres a specific form (atleast this is what the patient package says) but I was planning on asking for it or giving them the information to get it to the psych I scheduled with when I went in for my consult. Thanks for the kind words, I'm very very motivated. I feel absolutely awful though, allergies, and asthma are really flaring up and on top of that I've got a bout of Bronchitis and the doc says my lungs are sounding "wet", but he won't go as far as calling it Pneumonia, YET. So I get the pleasure of driving to Columbus the next two days again for Antibiotic shots! YAAY ME :P

There is a form. I had mine done by a different shrink because our mental health insurance pays 100% after a $10 co pay. SO it was $10 out of pocket and be done, or pay dr stotes fee and hope for and fight for reimbursement of some sort. I chose $10.

Misty, If it's any consolation.... Pre-op, I fought with bronchittis about 4-5 times PER YEAR! I definately felt it was more like oneumonia. My asthma was also non-stop. Post-op, I get 'colds'. Pesky, but I can breathe! Maybe once a year I'll get bronchittis and as bad as I may feel, at least I don't feel like death warmed over like I use to. The only time my asthma give me fits now is if someone wears strong perfumes/powders around me. I think my allergies are probably about the same though. Sherri ps...do you live near corn fields? It seems that the rate/severity of brochittis improved somewhat just by moving to the concrete city of Indy. In 2002, I stayed with a friend for a few weeks while recovering from an arm surgery and she lives near corn fields..and yep, I got a bad case of bronchittis shortly there after!
