I am so blessed! I exactly one week out. Went to the docs yesterday. Got the drain taking out and none to soon! What a pain! No pun intended. I join Jessyca in the ranks of lactose intolerent. If that is the worst complication out of this whole thing I will take it. I can sneeze without grabing my tummy. and I have already lost 10 pounds since surgery. I would do it all again in a heartbeat!

If you weren't lactose intolerant before surgery it may just be temp thing. I had that problem right after surgery and I think it was a combination of the changes in the plumbing and the amount of lactose that I was getting in the protein shakes. I could tolerate cottage cheese and yogurt but not the shakes. Now I drink a lot of milk and have no problem. Congrats on the great start.

That's fantastic!! I'm glad you're doing so wonderful.... I hope that all continues to go so well for you and Jan's right... I think that after everything gets situated we'll be able to drink regular milk again... But until then I'm sticking with Lactaid!! Congrats again! jessyca

CONGRATS Shellye, 10 lbs. woo~hoo!!! Keep on sipping, walking, and getting that protien in! I am 19 mo. out, and still lactose intolerant. I do cheeses, and cooked milk ( like sf. pudding)but no real milk or yogurt. I miss milk sometimes, but everytime I try it I get the " toilet flushes"!! So it is Continental 8 Light Vanilla Soymilk for me. I like it better than Lactaid. It is all a matter of taste and what your new "baby" tummy can tolerate. ((HUGS))~you are doing great!!! Ellen
