Darcie, Curves might would be a really good option...and one that the two of you could do together. She might would also do well with TOPS or Weigh****cher's since both of them include peer involvement and group support...and teens are so very peer oriented that it might would help her. Sherri

I weighed about that at 14. For me, I wish my parents had made sure there was better food in the house, no soda and junk food. I wish they would have encouraged me to get involved in exercise, too. Maybe you could try to find activities she has an interest in. That's what I'm doing now, with my horseback riding, and dancing lessons this summer. If you can afford them, some kind of private lessons, might be less intimidating. I know that's true for me. Linda Vicory

i agree with sherry curves would be good idea and it is something you can do together. start slow and make if fun for her. maybe even work out at home get some music she likes and have her corigraph(sp) moves to it that involve a workout and have her teach you the moves i know when my daughter was 14 the dances they had even then made me look like a fool and sometimes its ok to let the kids laugh at us . might give her the edge she needs to keep it up. and in the same turn one week you get one with dances from our time. it would give her yet another good laugh. i found that if you keep it fun they tend to stay more interested and keep with it more. i hope this helps vicki

Poor girl!! My little sister got into the 190's at that age. When she was 15, she quit Coca-Cola and started drinking water. She is 160 now and down in the 160's which is a really healthy weight for her at 5'7" The water also helped her with her acne!! That was a big plus and really boosted her self-esteem more than the weight loss. Hope your little girl has a happy birthday!! It's hard being 14. Kids eat so bad, and junk food is so good. Maybe she can maintain for a while and see the light in a year or two. Talking to a 14 year old about healthy choices--GOOD LUCK!!
