Jeannie- No i have not been through the 6 month dr supervised weightloss, i am however going to a nutritionist through St f. on my 3rd month. I have talked to her about getting banded (my preference if i get one) She has told me that she has had many medicaid patience who have had surgery. I will call them and find out what i can.
The benifit i have is that my primary insurance will cover the psychaitrist.
thank you for the encouragement. I have been fretting about this for 2 months now.

Topic: RE: Going bald
Where can I get Biotin? I have not lost any hair yet, and would prefer not to!

I was afraid that I was going to lose my hair also, so I started taking Biotein before surgery and still take it everyday. Hope this helps.

Have you done the six month doctor supervised weight loss attempt with your PCP? If not perhaps that is why he is sending you to Doc Olsen, if this is the case don't be upset with your PCP be glad he knows what he is doing!! Since Dr O is at a wl center she knows exactally what the insurance companies require and you can also begin working with one of the surgeons along with her. You will be ahead of the game when your six months is done.
I had Dr Mandelbaum, he is wonderful. I have to really brag up the after care at St F, they have been so kind and thoughtful and very very thorough. Their staff is amazing.
The ladies in the insurance office at St F are Nancy and Misty call and ask for either of the ladies to ask about your insurance. My sis is going thru the process right now at St F's and has HIP, it was a grouling experience to find a psychiatrist to take her insurance so St F's said they may have to stop accepting it.

33 lbs lost prior to surgery!

Linda is only partially correct when she said muscle weighs more than fat. If you have 16 oz of marshmallows and 16 oz of steak. They are both 1 pound. The same goes for our bodies. 16 oz or 1 pound is still 1 pound. Muscle is more dense meaning they are tighter together similar to the steak and fat is similar to marshmallows fluffy, so if the scale is not moving you need to measure yourself. If that hasn't moved either then you have more muscle to take up the same amount of space making the muscle be more dense so you have lots more muscle which in turn weighs more. But this is a good thing because it takes more energy to fuel those muscles which raises your BMR so make sure you continue the course and measure your food and watch your portion sizes. Sometimes changing just one thing can jumpstart the metabolism enough to start losing again. Change your exercise routine or add more weight, that may be what is needed to get it going again.

argh! i have talked to my PCP and he still apparently is not listening to me! I was under the impression that I was going to see Dr olson about the posability of surgery! that frustrates me. I am sure that Dr olson will direct me in the right path but I hate that my PCP is being so stuborn!
