Angel,

Dr. Bergman's office is wonderful at handling the insurance. Most insurance's will cover the panni (ALL the costs including surgeon, surgical center, and operating room costs)...but they need the surgeon's office to be willing to submit it...and know how to submit it to get it covered. Dr. Turkle's office wouldn't even think about submitting it for me...'not worth it'. To save a few thousand was well worth it for me!! Not to mention, Dr. Bergman is fantastic as a person and as a surgeon. I ended up having alot of problems through no fault of Dr. Bergman's, and she was right there for me the whole way! I just can't say enough positive things about this talented woman.

Angel,
I just had my surgery done by Dr. Jones and he is absolutely awesome. Unfortunately they don't even attempt to turn anything in on insurance because they say there are so few approvals it is not worth the time to pay someone to mess with it. However, I didn't have any medical issues resulting from the skin so that might be a different story all together. Thankfully I didn't have any rashes or anything debilitating the surgery was just a choice I made to finally make myself look normal. Even though I am still in the healing stages (as my surgery was 03/26/10) I think it looks awesome and I would do it all over again especially with Dr. Jones. I wouldn't have picked any other dr. Now, that being said I had an extended tummy tuck which went all the way around my body to the crack of my (well you know) and I also had an upper medial thigh lift, that is where he took off extra skin like right where my underwear sits but not down toward my knees because I didn't have alot of issues with that part. My tummy was the main concern. My total bill was 11,500. That included all the fees for the hospital (overnight stay, and the nurses were awesome). That also included a discount that I got for being a bariactric patient.
I had orginally heard about Dr. Jones through my support group, he came and did a presentation and I fell in love with his personality right then and instantly knew that he was the one that I wanted to do my surgery. He handed out a print out and said if that we brought it with us when we came for a consulation that there would be no charge for initial consulation. I thought that was awesome too!
Sorry this is so long but I could just go on and on about him and his staff. If you have any other questions feel free to message me, I will try to help any way that I can.
GOD Bless!

I know several people have gotten their panni removal done and had insurance cover it. They have said that Dr. Bergman's office is great at getting insurance to cover that surgery. Beyond that, any other types of plastics are probably not going to be covered by insurance.

Can't hurt to check into it.

I'm really glad to hear all the good reviews about St Vincent. I'm having my surgery the 28th. I know I will feel better with a little bit of spoiling when I'm in pain. Everyone was really nice when I had my pre-op testing last week.
Can't wait to be on the loser's bench!!

Well it's been almost two years since I lost 130 lbs. and I've kept it off. While I do work out and eat right I've got excess skin I'd love to get rid of. just not sure how much I can get insurance to pay for since i doubt they would say it was medically necessary.
Any thoughts on this?

Went to my doctor today and was really shocked when he said it was time to start talking a panni surgery. I couldnt believe it! I am scared and think maybe I am just being vain...I have a really hard time doing things just for myself. I know though I wont be settled until I do it. When I go back in August he said he will have two surgeons to choose from. Wow...what a journey this has been. Thank you God for providing this surgery and for my new life here on Earth and in heaven.

That dose help and so dose the fact that you work at Clarian North and chose Dr. Mattar. She is my life. You can tell her I told you so, but she will tell you that she knows already. You have responded to her questions on here (I think about the food after surgery?) katsgrl1. She calls me kat so that makes her katsgrl, how adorable right.
