Is it safe to color hair while actively losing it?

Hello All,  I'm almost 3 months post op and in the last couple of weeks have noticed a bit more hair on the vanity and floor.  I figured this would happen - I lost some when I came down with a thyroid condition several years ago too - so I'm not freaking out about it.  I have quite a bit of hair, so it's only noticeable to me.  However,  I am about due for a periodic highlight coloring to brighten things up and was just curious if anyone's heard that could cause a greater hair loss.   Like I said, I'm not freaked out about it now but I certianly wouldn't want to do something to make it go from a "general thinning" to coming out in clumps. Thanks,  Lynn

Lynn, I've colored my hair since '83..and never had more than 3 months to go between touch-ups. I lost alot of hair that first year post-op but I don't believe Miss Clairol had a thing to do with it. Take Biotin (a vitamin B TABLET..not capsule) and it will help with the hair loss. Sherri

I colored my hair this whole year too. I don't think it made it any worse. My hair is starting to come back in now. I have all kinds of short hairs. Hehe. I would advise to make sure you have a good shampoo.
