Got medicaid ..what should I do next???
My caseworker just told me that I have full coverage Indiana Health Hoosier. What should I do next? Should I set up appointment with weight loss center in Merrillville Indiana? Am not sure what the steps are that I need to take in order to get this going. I need all the help and direction for all you folk out there. Thank and bless you all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
I can tell you what I did. First I called the customer service number on the back of my Mediciad ID card. CSR will want to have your Medicaid number so they can look up your benefits and case history, otherwise they can't tell you nothing. I told the CSR that I was interested in WLS. She asked for my primary physican's name and address. She sent me the information packet that addresses all the requirements from Medicaid to be approved for WLS as well as a current listing of all Medicaid approved surgeon's and facilities. She then told me to make an appointment with my primary physican within 14 days as she was sending him the information packet required by him to fill out for my approval. I did all that - followed Mediciad's approval guidelines, chose my surgeon and was referred by my primary to him who then sent my records and the Medicaid approval packet, then my surgeon's office sent all that information plus the surgeon's recommendation for surgery to Medicaid. It took around 3 weeks to hear back that I was approved.
So start there, would be my advice, as it seemed to work for me very well.
Good Luck
