Why can't I get motivated?

I've been saying for three weeks now (to myself) that I was going to begin walking and try to lose some of my weight before surgery...even if it's just 10 lbs or so...but I just can't seem to get motivated...when I read the post's of others I see where several of you lost 10, 20 or even 30 + pounds prior to your surgery dates...and I know this would just help me in the end, but I can't seem to get myself to do it...any words of advice?? Am I stewing over something that I shouldn't be worrying about, or is it super important to get that boost before surgery? I'm 18 days and counting...not much time, but I know I could drop a few pounds in that time...actually if I really got to work I could likely drop 10-15lbs... jen

It would be good to get into walking regularly now. You will need to be walking after surgery to prevent clots. The more used to it you are, the better. It's hard to get motivated, but I would try if I were you. Not so much to try to lose weight before surgery, although that's a nice benefit. Mostly to start disciplining yourself, because you will need to do that after surgery. It won't be a cake walk, it's hard work, but I know you know that.  Linda Vicory

I tried walking tonight and walked myself right into an asthma attack after 1/2 mile. I'm wondering how I'm going to be able to do this!!

GAWWWWWWD all I have been praying for lately is for  me to stop smoking for 2 months (28 days to go! ) so the doctor's office will send in my insurance info to get approved....and now I am worried about WALKING after surgery! I am such a clutz!!!!I tore a ligament in my knee 2 weeks ago...and found out MIGHT be healed in 2 months!!!!!!! plus with the other knee needing replaced...not so sure I CAN walk too far at a time....I have trouble even walking all of walmart without hanging onto a buggie and stopping to sit. although I did tell the doc all this....soooo he said shouldn't be a problem WHEWWWWWWWWWW

Lord, keep me in your will so I won't be in your way.
