St. Vincent praises

Hi Everyone - I lurk here often and post sometimes, but today someone ask what we as a group thought of St. V's.  Well, I realized today is the day I need to share how much I respect St. V's........ I had RNY - 11-28-05 at St. V's with Dr. Jones.  I wanted this surgery so much that I was a SELF PAY patient.  I don't know how many of you know the ins and outs of self pay, but the amount I paid covered three days - anything that happened in the first three days was covered.  Well, I had complications.  My care was wonderful, but I was in the hospital THIRTEEN days.  The bill was HUGE to say the least.  I left the hospital owing them several tens of thousands of dollars.  I was scared and didn't know what I was going to do.  When I shared this with the finance office they quietly provided me with some paperwork and told me to complete it and return it to them within 2 weeks.   The result-----------------St. Vincents forgave all but 10% of what I had made in salary the year before! Did any of you know that part of the St. Vincent creed is that besides not desciminating on the basis of religion, sex etc. that they include "the ability to pay"? I would like to encourage any of you who are looking for a worthy place to make donations to that you consider St. Vincents.  They are very worthy stewards of our donations.
