Hi everyone! I had my surgery on Tuesday, at 8:30am and was released from the hospital last night.  :) I'm doing pretty well. Tuesday and Wednesday were kind of rough.. I remember wondering if I had done the right thing. But after that was much better... and now I know I DID the right thing. ;) I'm having trouble gettting in the required amount of fluids... but I think most of that is due to me not knowing when I am full or not... I'm afraid to go "over the limit" so I end up stopping when there really is no reason to.  I'm not hungry.. so I don't know yet what it feels like to be "full". Last night for dinner I had 2 tbls of small crude cottage cheese.. and boy did it taste good! Took me about 15 minutes to eat it. My husband bought me a couple sippy cups so now I will concentrate on getting in 1 bottle for Isopure in the next 24 hrs.  I had an egg for breakfast, but could only eat about 1/3rd of it.  I just worry that I am not getting enough nutrients in...    Having some trouble with my drain site leaking.  I called the doctor this morning asking if I could put a butterfly bandages over it to pull it together and he said no they want it to drain as much as possible.  He said it was normal to have to change the dressing 3-4 times per day.  So right now, that is my biggest annoyance as I tends to leak through on my clothing and then I have to change clothes again..  LOL.. I feel like a teenager!  (changing 10 times a day!)  LOL   Well, I'm going to go rest. I hope everyone had a good 4th. ~~jackie

Congrats Jackie, Welcome to the other side.  after my surgery i wouldnt have lived without instant oats and mashed potatos. i put shredded cheese on the potatos and some times put chicken broth in them. added unflavored protein powder to both, i ate oats or mashed potatos at least once a day.  I still have some days i cant do eggs, they are too heavy and course for some reason.   you may not get all your fluids in this first couple  of weeks but just keep pluggin away at it, youll get it soon.  sounds like you are doing really good,   Good Luck to you,  Carla

Congrats Jackie!  From what I've read here on OH, it will get better.  (I'll try to remember that myself during the first couple days after mine in August. But I gotta ask:  Where can I get some of that "small CRUDE cottage cheese"? Sounds good!
