Amanda, My hubby & I will be at King's Island next weekend. If anyone would like to hang out together, let me know. Ummm...what we will be eating is pretty much anything NOT on your menu. Fried chicken???? Is this REALLY a WLS get together??? What we look for in amusement park meals (and can usually find it so far): grilled or roasted chicken/turkey, salads (w/fat free dressing), bottled water. What we DON'T look for: Fried..anything, mayo anything, brown sugar'ed beans, full fat hot dogs, 1/4 pound burgers (that's 2 meals, not including the bun!), soda's...and ice cream (???). You might want to re-consider that menu. It looks like it is promoting the NEED to have WLS, not how to eat healthy. I would suggest: Grilled chicken, turkey hot dogs, low cal buns, watermelon, bottle water. I still would not pay $13 for it, but at least it would be promoting what this site is about....eating healthy. Sherri

Sorry if I offended you.  This was the option that Kings Island has for group tickets and catered meals.  Well unless you would prefer pizza.  Also, there is nothing wrong with those items in moderation. That is why I was banded.. so I could live life normally and within the normal food consumption amounts of normal people.

We are not bringing in the food.. this is prepared by Kings Island. Sorry that I offended you...  Amanda

Amanda,  YOU didn't offend ME. That menu offends my post-op pouch though! I would be absolutely shocked if any Indianapolis area post-op, banded, RNY, or otherwise, took you up on that menu. I was pointing out to you that if you don't get any takers, that would be why. NONE of the local surgeons here would approve fried chicken or ice cream..in moderation or not. There ARE healthy alternatives available at amusement parks. If King's Island (or any other park) doesn't offer them in a package deal, then I do encourage each and every person to pass this offer up and check out what is out there. If when we go next weekend, I am not able to find healthy choices, I will never go back to King's Island again. And trust me, I WILL be putting it on here for all to see! Since I just went last year and was able to find roasted chicken though, I'm not looking for that to be a problem. If people want to join you in September, that is great. My hubby and I are amusement park fanatics. We've already been this summer to Holiday World, Kentucky Kingdom & 6 Flags in MO (Season tickets). Already reserved yet are: King's Island & Cedar Point (Season tickets), Indiana Beach, and Fun Spot Amusement Park & Zoo. If it weren't for the fact that I'll probably be having my plastics done the beginning of September, we might would even go to King's Island a second time. But...I absolutely would not even consider the backyard BBQ deal. Have you contacted them and told them that the group you are looking into this for has special dietary needs? I would attempt to do that.  For you post-op RNY'ers out there.....grease WILL make you dump! Sugar WILL make you dump! Fat WILL make you dump! I don't know if it would affect banders the same way but if you go and eat  that crap, you WILL get sick and it WON'T be the Beast that did it to you! Save your $13 and check out what is available at the kiosh'es. Sherri

I get your point.. Banded people don't dump, so I didnt take that into consideration.  We can eat normal food.   What I did take into consideration was the fact that most people will be bringing NON WLS people that can still enjoy Picnic foods. Once again.. sorry.. and enjoy your trip. Amanda And I already have 45 people coming.. (that are post op) so I am not worried about not having anyone show up.

I have to kinda agree with some of Sherri's points. But I wanted to point out that dumping is not ONLY a RNY sypmtom ... being banded... I DO DUMP ON GREASE AND SUGAR. I know I"m not the only banded person that has that problem also. I wouldn't mind meeting up with everyone and meeting some new WLS friends - of course I'd probably bring my own food or be extremely selective of food options there at the park - of course that's just wishful thinking for me right now because I'm seven and a half months pregnant and going to Kings Island right now would be a waste of my time, energy, and money, hahah! So it will diffently have to be another time. And although I agree with your statement about food in "moderation" - I personally think that should be held for better upgraded food in moderation. Certainly not fried foods and/or ice creams.. etc... Not trying to be offensive towards anyones opinion. Just seems like that if you are going to use your own personal time, energy and money, plus your doctors time, surgery time, your family's time worrying about surviving any form of WLS, and other options... wouldn't you'd want to clearly be accountable for the food in your mouth and make moderated choices on better foods? Not the ones that got in the condition to have to make a choice for WLS to begin with. But hey, that's just my opinion on "moderation". Not trying to wage a WLS war or anything. I'm just really thoughtful about the food being put in my mouth and being a successfull Bander. I did loose 167 lbs w/ 15 months of surgery and then becoming pregnant - so yes I consider myself to be a very successfull bander. Jodi

If the food choices dont work.. you might be better off buying a ticket seperately.  You are paying $4 less than the ticket with the meal.. but there is no point in paying for what you can't have. I am not selling seperate tickets.. that would be too confusing... Would love to see you there.  If you change your mind and want to get the meal.. email me, and I'll send you the order form. Thanks!!! Amanda
