I just joined OH and have started the journey to have the Laporoscopy RNY.  It seems it will never get here since I just started. I have my first nurtionist appt. next week.  I guess my insurance requires 6 mos of that.  I am hoping to have the surgery by end of Dec. but if my insurance takes to long to approve it, then it will be after the first of the year. I have Anthem Blue, does anyone else have that?  I am from the Muncie area, anyone else?  Any advice anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated. Jenny

First and foremost, welcome! I'm also a rookie on this site, I just signed up last week. You will find that it's one of the best sites out there for what your going through right now. I also have Anthem BCBS, and it doesn't require me to meet with a nutritionist for six months. I think your employer may have a stipulation on your benefits that require you to do that. I hope this helps you out, and Good Luck on your new journey! Tanika

Hi Jenny! Welcome! I was supposed to have to do a six months supervised diet and exercise regime, but my insurance approved surgery about 3 months into it. So I didn't  complain about that! I was told to me sure to attend EVERY single appointment, don't miss for any reason, or you might have to start the six months over. Just thought I'd pass that on. I have Anthem too, as a state employee.

Hi and welcome.  I also have Anthem BCBS, mine is federal though.  I didn't have to do anything special.  The doctors office required me to meet with the nut once before for a short consult then I have to have a longer visit now that I'm approved.  So the supervised diet depends on the stipulations that your company puts in their plan. GOOD LUCK!

I am currently doing the 6 month diet and my last one is on July 13. Let me tell you it goes by real fast. I can't believe I will be sending my packet soon.  All of what you have to go through is well worth it.  Good Luck Robin

Welcome...so glad you're here...looking forward to following your journey...my journey began in march when i called to set an intial consult...I had that in april, psych eval in may...then even though my insurance didn't require it, my dr's office wanted medical records of my history of weight gain over the years, so i got all those records and got them sent in to them in early june....they sent into my insurace and i had my approval in about 14 days...now my date is aug 2nd...so hang in there...it will happen, even though I'm still waiting I know it's coming. welcome again! so nice to 'meet' you jen

Hi Neighbor! I'm fairly new here also. I'm am from Muncie, but I now live in New Castle. I've lived here for 6 years now. My husband and I are both going for WLS. We have 5 more months of doctor supervised diet plan. Hoping for surgery at the end of the year. We have the M-plan suburban health. Make sure your doctor is going to meet with you during your 6 month nutritionist visits. My daughter-in-law just found out her not only needed a 6 month with a nutritionist but also the doctor had to record her improvements as well. My insurance only require doctor supervised diet and exercise plan for 6 months. At least that's what they tell me.  It's nice to know someone else is going through all of this. Maybe we can help each other. Keep in touch.   Terri

We are really close neighbors.  I actually live in Albany, I put that I was from Muncie area, because Albany is so small and not a lot of people know it.  I will add you to my friends, if I can figure it out....lol I go to my first nutritionist appt. this Thurs.  I am still confused on my insurance requirements, I need to call and get it all figured out.  Well thanks for replying and good luck! Jenny
