does any one know what edema is?

I picked up my mri on my foot and ankle and I know I have bone spures but it says I have three differnt spots of edema   My doc is gone till next week some time due to the holiday ..so I have to wait till she calls me.....Does any one know what it is and how it is treated...so far I ve had two cortozone shots but we didnt know what was wrong   please help thanks

Edema is swelling caused by fluid accumulation.  Diuretics are often used to treat it, and rest also, so talk to your pcp and see what he/she thinks would be the best treatment. Hope this helps!

Salley u were right on with your treatment...I'll have to start calling u dr. lizzard.  LOL

Also keeping your foot elevated will help with the drainage of the fluids....esp if u dont have any water pills.
