Be Very Careful what you post................

I just got an eye opener.  I did a google search on myself and found one of the things that came up under my name was an ObesityHelp.com post I had made.  In the post I gave my email address and my cell phone number to another member on this board.  Now my email an cell phone are out there for anyone who happens to do a google on my name. Just a warning to be careful what you post. Pauletta

Sherri, Yeah, my husband and I were looking for his aunts website (she's an actress and has her own website) and just for the heck of it I typed my real name in and WOW there it was.  It was the post I had done to you after Dawn's fire.  I had given you my cell number and my email address.  Of course I signed my name to the post (only my first name)  but at the time I was using my home email which is my last name.  Now I have created a new email without my last name attached.  You know makes you think.  Better to not use your name anywhere in email address's.   Anyway, because my first name was on the signature and my last name was in my email.  Voila!  up comes the search.  If you do a google search of your user name here, you will see your profile and all that goes with it.  I have now made my profile accessible to only my friends.  Which everyone is welcome to be my friend, but I figure if only my friends can see it, even if someone types in a search for Mtowngirl they shouldn't be able to find it.  I hope anyway.   One of the posters on the LapBand board made a good point.  When she searched her user name, it came up with her profile and the picture of her grandson which she used as her avatar.  She has now changed her avatar.  But made me realize that I don't want people to see my pictures unless I want them to. P

I did another goggle on my profile name and now it says I'm not on there.  But it does bring up the member photos and list.  I imagine that is all the profiles that are marked as public access.  So I think I will just keep my profile for friends only.  Nothing personal against anyone on here.

So if you want to be my friend, just ask.  I need all the friends I can get.  I'm sure once I'm banded, I'll be looking for lots of advice. Pauletta

That is a good idea.  I've always been very careful about putting contact info out there just because of that.  I think I need to make some changes in my profile also.  I'd like to add you my friends list but since your profile won't come up for me I don't know how to add it. Pherhaps if you add me I can add you?

That was why when it asked for my "last" name I typed "Not Supplied".
