WLS-friendly, Blue Cross-accepting PCP in Chicago?

Hi!

I don't have a PCP in Chicago, but I'm going to a very good doctor in Mexico for a VSG, and I need to get one beforehand. Does anyone know a doctor will not be judgmental/will not refuse to treat someone with a 36 BMI getting WLS down there?

Also, BCBS-accepting would be great.

I am guessing that you mean a doc in the city proper? My PCP is in the western 'burbs - Itasca and she is WLS friendly.

If you could send me her contact info, I could look into her. I go by Itasca a lot.

Dr Brenda Bergeson 630 467 0101 1107 N Prospect Ave Suite 100. On Prospect Ave just north of the light at Thorndale Ave. Right north of the Salt Creek Golf Course (which is actually in unincorporated Wood Dale). And right across from the water tower for Itasca.

There are 3 docs in the practice for Family Medical Associates. I do not know about the other two docs other than one of them visited me in the hospital when I had a bowel obstruction and I really liked him. My DH well before he had WLS had to go to him also because of his insurance and he really like him also, though he is not currently his doc.  They do not have a website unfortunately,  weird.

ps - edited to add that I have BCBS of IL PPO.

Hmm. I've called this office several times and just get put on interminable hold! Is there another way to contact them?

What part of the city are you in?  I have a PCP that accepts BCBS and has an office at Foster and California in the city as well as one near Old Orchard in Skokie.  Let me know if this would work for you an I will send you her info.  She is WLS friendly as well.

Thanks! Apparently, she's booked up through some point in January, so it's a no-go. I probably need to actually see the person before the surgery.
