WEDNESDAY roll call
Good morning! Boy have we been busy! My sister had twin boys on Friday and we have been going to visit. Went to a cousins wedding down in Danville on Sat. and Maddie was in a parade on Sunday.
Today I'm going to my 8th grade class reunion. We only had 12 kids on our class and I think there is about 8 people coming w/ the kids and spouses. It should be a good time. I will be honest. Before I lost the weight, I would have NOT gone. My self esteem was so low that I was embarrassed to go anywhere around where I grew up in fear that I would see someone I went to school with. It's kinda a good feeling to be comfortable w/ myself! I have family coming this weekend also, so some time I have to find time to clean. I'm going over to my moms house tomorrow to clean for her because her sisters are coming and visiting. I hope everyone has a good day and remember to get some type of exercise in! And knitting DOES count because you are using your head and moving your arms and not eating! I've picked up the knitting needles and have been knitting a really pretty scarf. I think I need to expand my knitting options though. I'm kinda getting board of scarfs. I did knit my sister some pee pads for the boys. She puts them over them while she changes there diapers, so if they see she doesn't get squirted on! TTYL!!!!

Good morning Janet and Illinois members! Wow, you are a group of early risers! Once I'm through recuperating from knee surgery, and back at work, I'll be posting a lot earlier in the day as well. I typically leave my house at 0545 to reach work by 0730.
Anyway, today I'm trying to do a bit more around the house. I drove a short distance yesterday, first time in a month. I can sure feel it when I have to press the brake! My right knee was only a little sore this morning, so I'm going to do more short drives with my husband every day so I can be prepared for the long distance, 35 miles, I drive to and from work. I feel as weak as a newborn kitten right now. Not at all like I can handle my usual 17 hour work days running around the ICU. Thank goodness my boss is supporting my need to do some sort of "desk work" right now. For the next month, I'll be training the other ICU nurses to use our brand new computerized charting program. I was on the design committee, so this is a perfect fit!
On the surgery front...I have my health psychologist appointment tomorrow, then I can schedule my first meeting with my surgeon! I have my second of 4 required nutrition classes on July 9. I also have a dobutamine stress echo scheduled on July 15. As a cardiac nurse, I know what that entails, but I sure don't look forward to it. I'm so in denial! Oh well, it will be good to know how my heart is functioning. I hope I haven't ruined it yet with my obesity. Things are coming along and look promising for my surgery to be scheduled for September.
Dawn, I hope you get to go to Summerfest. I've given up on my husband ever actually making a plan for entertainment or travel. I just do it myself, then I'm never dissapointed.
Janet and Nicolle, hope you get everything done that you want to. I'll give you directions to my house if you really want to do more cleaning
. And Nicolle, good luck with the potty training. That issue alone was enough to make me determined to just have 1 kid! Connie, I hope you enjoy your first day of retirement. My mom would be jealous, she never has enough time for her knitting!
Have a great day, everyone, even if it is cloudy!

Hi Nancy, I wondered what surgery you had, I only saw the posts about you getting to leave the hospital. I just had arthroscopic surgery on my right knee to remove some ripped cartilage. I slipped and fell while on a cruise ship, messed up my knee and right hamstring.
Hope your recovery is going well! You had a much bigger/more involved surgery than mine.

Hi Stephanie,
Just started reading some of the Illinois message board and noticed you are a nurse and having your surgery at Northwestern. Do you work there? I had Dr. Nagle as my surgeon and saw Dr. Hungness several times when Dr. Nagle was not doing rounds. Northwestern is a great hospital. The nurses on the 12th floor are wonderful. I spent a lot of time there because of surgical complications (and 2 additional surgeries).
Good luck with your upcoming classes and finally meeting Dr. Hungness!

Hey Kim, my mom recently took some classes at a local knit/yarn shop so that she could get into the hobby a bit more. She has really enjoyed the interaction with the teacher and other knitters. They've helped her fix mistakes and learn to create more involved pieces. Maybe there's a place near you? I need to find something like that to occupy me when head hunger hits!
Good afternoon Janet and Illinois!
It is good to see a lot of "lost" people posting! I have missed seeing all of you. Everyone sounds so busy! No wonder you don't have time to post!
I am glad that things are going so well for everyone. It sounds like summertime is really hopping. Lots of company and lots of activities and vacation plans. Sounds great.
From my corner of the world, I am just being plain lazy. Doing my pt exercises and being a facebook addict. Not much else I can do while waiting for my knee to heal.
Have a great day!
