Hi! I'm Nichole and I'm from Salem IL and was wondering if there was anyone from this same area and where you went for your procedure. I have a medical card and am wondering if I need a referral from my primary care doctor or what I need to do to get started. Any information would be helpful! Thanks!!!

Hi Nichole,

Well, you have taken the first step to become healthy, bycoming here to OH. I am not from the southern part of the state, but I know some of the girls have gone to St. Louis, and others have come up to Champlain. There was a few that even came up to the UofC hospitals. If you go to the top of the message board, there is a message about Medicaid and medicare.

Come back often, and join in our daily roll caLL.

LISA

Not sure how far you are wanting to drive but my surgeon accepts Medicaid / IPA / Kid Care. He doesn't require a PCP referral either.

Dr. Seigel is very experinced and knowledgable and I am looking to have my surgery in the next month or two. Already did Physical & Psych Evals and I see him for my 30 day follow-up this Thursday! Just waiting on IPA after that!

He is located in Gurnee, Illinois just east of Six Flag's Great America.

Here is his website:

I hope this helps!

Peoria Surgical Group in Peoria

They do RNY, lapband, and the DS.  I know that it will be a little way to travel, but they are all talented surgeons.  I believe they accept the medical card as well.  Good luck in your search.  Don't settle for a surgeon just because they are close to you...you want someone who is good and has experience.
