Good Morning all, (Mari here)

Been a while since we've posted. Just checking in to say hello.

Cory is doing very well. We had a major scare a month ago. Cory started bleeding and lost 75% of his blood. He ended up having to get 11 units of blood products, 5 red cell and 6 plasma. It was very scary. But God is GOOD and all powerful and today Cory is fine. Apparently he had an ulcer we were unaware of and one of them started to bleed. Since he takes a blood thinner because of his damaged heart, they could not stop the bleeding for some time. Cory was in Intensive Care for 5 days.

Thank God I used to be a CNA and keep a BP cuff at home. He saw blood in his stool and felt weak...I took his BP and it was quite low, rushed him to the hospital...according to the ER doc just in time.

It was all UNRELATED to his bypass surgery. He developed this ulcer recently.

On a brighter note, Cory is now 2 1/2 months out and has lost 53 pounds since his last weigh in a month ago ( have to fix his weight tracker thingy...I may have messed that up). So actually he's probably down quite a bit more. He looks absolutely FABULOUS!!! He feels great, is having NO issues related to the surgery, just occasional nausea and its rare. SOOOO proud of him!! He eats well, gets his protein in and I just have to stay on him abou****er intake.

From the very beginning, we decided to do this as a team and for US it has worked out very well. I realize that may not be the way to go for some, but to each his own. I encourage him and watching him progress has encouraged me tremendously. Cory now has a new job and is so much more confident. I used to have to walk slower so he can keep up, now I am telling him to relax. He has so much more energy and this is only the beginning.

We appreciate all your support and ask that you continue to send your prayers our way as we will continue to send you ours.

Hi Mari, it sounds like you are both doing great! Keep up the good work.
Cory can't help but do great with the support and love you shower on  him. I am sorry he had a rough time, but it is better now. Has his Dr changed his blood thinner? With all my health issues, I got off of them as soon as possible. My dad's death was compleatly related to the amount of blood thinners he was given.

Glad to see you again.

Hugs,
Lisa

Hi Lisa!

Very good to see you again!

You are always so supportive and positive and that is the kind of energy we love. You are one of the ones I was hoping to bump into.

They are monitoring his levels much more closely now. He has to have them checked bi-weekly. He is looking forward to being taken off of it completely. I will keep you posted on that progress and thank you so much for your support!

(((hugs))))

It is good to hear that Cory is doing fine.  I had the surgery in January and have done great with no problems.  June 23 my wife will be having the surgery so keep us in your prayers.  I will be her coach in this.

 Hi Mari and Cory!

My what a frightening scare Cory had!  I am so glad that Mari got him to the hospital in time.  That sure is a LOT of blood to loose.  I was down 4 pints before surgery and felt awful.  I can't imagine being down 11!  I am on coumadin as well and that stuff scares me.  But no doctor wants to take me off of it.  Hearing your story really makes me more aware of the side effects.

I am glad the weight loss part is going great.  This is such an amazing ride.  Congrats on doing so well!

It was great hearing from both of you.  Stop in whenever you get a chance.
