Anyone know Dr, Vafa Shayani,

Well today I got my referral form to see the surgeon, Little upset because I told my PCP which one I wanted to see, but he took it upon his self and switched it , same grp, different surgeon, I really wanted Dr. Cahill, but I guess my PCP thought a different way. So if anyone knows anything about Dr. Vafa, would you please let me know! Thanks

Youre PCP has NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! business make this choice for you.. As the patient you have the right to decide who cuts you open and who does not. You need to go back to your PCP and explain that you're not comfortable with him making this important choice for you and ask for his support as you investigate surgeons and find one that you're comfortable with.

I really don't think you need a referral from your pcp to make an appointment with a wls surgeon. The first thing for you to do is go to a seminar with the Dr. you want. Also get your info from your insurance co, to make sure the Dr you want is on thier program.

I went to a seminar, and both surgeons practice at the same hospital. I go and have a  consult to see this Md on Tues, I asked the grl a few questions, like how many consults do i have to have with this MD, she said one, and two for Dr. Cahill, I asked her well how are surgery dates looking for this MD, she said you can get in nxt Tues for surgery, if all your preop is complete. I asked about the other MD she said he's booked until the end of June, I couldn't believe it. So at this point I'm just ready to get this done !!!

As tempting as it may be dont ru**** I dont know how long you have been going down this road or how much you've done before hand........ If you have a reputable surgeon (someone who has dont LOTS of surgeries with a GOOD reputation) they wont let you skip a step...

He is an great surgeon.  He has taught most of the doctors how to do the Lap Band.  And now he is in Private Practice. 

WOW!! I found out some good things about this Md, I will  see him tom, for the consult, can't wait to meet him!!!!!

i see his name around a lot, (Dr. Vafa) can't help on that one -
