I wanted to start using the protein powder now to get use to the idea after surgery.

I was at Walmart tonight and couldn't decide what to get. I was told the Whey Protein puts weight on you??

What have you guys used that can be bought at like Walmart?

Thanks,
Heather

I get my protein from www.bodybuilding.com  and it is whey I am one that loves my protein I don't drink it plain I mix with other stuff, Like my Vanilla Cinnamon with Cream of Wheat, and also have a hot drink with it  in international coffee Vanilla creme, and my Cappuccino mixed with Hills bros. Cappuccino French Vanilla. and I have one of them everyday and just love them
I also get   Choc. for Woodmans that I mix with milk.
and as for putting on weight it has not for me. good luck and hope you fine something you like OH also what you like now you may not like after surgery as your taste changes,
Janet

Success begins with wise choices I make,I will not let noncompliance be my mistake, The surgery I had was to assist me in changes. My compliance is for a success long range, So I will think before I decide to cheat. Remember the goals I want to meet. For this surgery is not something I was force to do It was what I wanted for a healthy life!

Thanks for your reply.
I am looking for something that is over the counter. I don't want to spend a lot of money with shipping, etc. Just want to start experimenting now. I know I may not like certain foods after the surgery. I'm looking for the non-flavored powder to mix in with my evening smoothie that I make for my husband and I. There were several brands at Walmart cheap, just not sure which one to buy.

One said something about muscle-building? Should I be using that one??

Editted to Add: How much protein per day are we suppose to have just after the surgery?

Thanks,
Heather

I use the stuff from Walmart.  I doctor it up and make protein ice cream.  The DaVinci syrups that you can get in the coffee aisle there can give you different flavors.  It does not taste bad at all.  Your tastes will change after surgery so you may not like it now and like it afterward or love it now and hate it post surgery.  GNC has some good powders as well.  And if you don't like them, and have kept your receipt, they will take them back and refund your money.

I use the Body Fortress Whey Protein.  The vanilla comes in a gold and yellow tub.

You can get the DaVinci syrup in the aisle where they sell coffee!  They carry a few flavors.  Mine just added more sugar free ones this week!

Met-RX is my favorite. I get it at GNC. http://www.metrx.com/shop/parent.aspx?parentID=3&catID=1&xs= 7c14c42a58fe4aa6a25fa205b35526eb this is the link to the company's info page for the product. And here is the link from GNC http://www.gnc.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3199261

This comes in indiviual packets to make a meal replacement shake. NOW - the thing you will find is that one packet is way, way too much for a PO. So what I did was measure out the amount of powder per packet then I cut the amount in half for making a single serving. I think the chocolate is 1/3 cup of powder. I empty most of the packets into a large plastic tub or container and then measure out what I need for one drink and make it in my Bullet with ice and skim milk. The calorie count I think is somewhere around 200+ for one shake. That is the recommended amount of calories my NUT recommends based on a 1100-1200 calorie diet.

I know you did ask about the powders but consider the ready made EAS Advant Edge containers that are 110 calories, 0 gms sugar and 17 gm of protein. You can get these at Osco, GNC and Sam's Club. Sam's only has the chocolate in the case. The other stores they come in four packs.

i went thru about 5 horifying kinds before settling on Amplify Wheybolic 60. It's at GNC in Chocolate and Van.

I use 1 scoop (20 gms protein) or you can use 3, 2 parts warm water and a little soymilk. It  tastes just like cocoa. With GNC you can take it back even if you dont like it after you open it.

Trying to figure out how to reverse this weight gain.
