Anyone have medicaid and had their surgery at Northwestern Memorial Hospital?

I went to their seminar the other day, and they gave us a paper that said that pre op fees vary based on insurance.  So I was wondering if anyone that used medicaid could share with me how much they paid for all the pre op appointments, classes, psych evaluation, etc.  Thanks!

This statement is true ONLY if you see providers that accept the Medical Card!

Never, ever assume just because your surgeon takes the card that all the doctors that he/she refers to you will accept it as well.

For example, not all psychiatrists accept IPA. Or, here's another situation I've come across, the surgeon accepts IPA for his portion but the hospital that he does his surgery at does not, or, vice-versa. I came across Dr. Constantine Frantzides who does not accept IPA but the hosiptal he does it at will, so you will pay OOP for his charges and follow-ups.

It is always best to call every individual place and verify before going, even the hospital itself! (WHich sounds like you already did that part) Your nutritionist, your Psychiatrist, your Physical Therapist.

Now, some surgeons REQUIRE you to see the doctors they are partnered with, and not always do all of them accept IPA. Just be careful of this so you dont incur any hidden charges!

I hope this helps!

Thank you so much for this information!

They do require us to go to their dietician, but I have a list of a few psychiatrists that they let us choose from, so I'll definitely call them individually to ask whether they accept IPA.

You've been a big help!
