Dr. Alex Argotte?
Hello, my name is Teresa too. I have been seeing Dr. Argotte now since November 2008. I most likely will have my surgery in July or August depending on how fast the insurance answers.
I saw him today in Herrin. It was the first day they were open since the storm. They have power now and are seeing patients so dont worry your appt. Thursday won't be cancelled. They will explain each step to you as you go and you will be on your way.
I had to do a 6 month diet program for my insurance. I started in Paducah and now I see him in Herrin. I live in Simpson, IL. so it is about the same distance to both places for me. I really like him. His caring for his patients makes him so great. I tried to get the surgery 5 years ago and he really faught for me, but the insurance was a private plan and it was a no go. Now I have returned to him with new insurance that does cover the surgery. I am just jumping thru the loops the insurance requires now.
I had the endoscope done in December. There is nothing to it. You are asleep for it. Don't fret over any of the tests they are all easy. I just have one more now. The stress test. I took it and passed it before so I am not worried about it. I just went to the Psych exam last week. I went to Dr. Querishi (I dont think the spelling is right) in Marion. I saw his Physician assistant. The exam is so easy there and they know just what you need for Dr. Argotte. The PA I saw was Auna. She has had the surgery and understands so much. I would recommend them. The office at Dr. Argotte's can give you a list of the psychs they use.
I will try to help you with any questions you have. Just email and ask. I have only one more visit with my PCP for the diet and then we can apply to the insurance.
Oh yes. Dr. Argotte sent me to the dietician and I was put on the liver shrinkage diet to try to loose weight before surgery to make it easier on me and to shrink my liver. My BMI was over 60. I have lost 41 lbs as of today since February 3rd. I was at 303 and now I am at 262... I am only 4'10" tall.. I feel so much better and my liver is ready for surgery. If he offers that diet to you take it. It is not too bad you just have to be determined as much as you are determined to get the surgery.
Ok I guess thats enough for now. Dr. Argotte now has a PA and she is great too. Her name is Julie. All the people in the Herrin office are so nice. You won't be sorry you are going there.
If you want to email me direct my email is [email protected]. I would be happy to have a pen pal through this that is going there too and lives close by.. As the other lady implied us neighbors have to stick together.

Hi Tammy,
How did your first office visit go. I am assuming that you got the results of your endoscopy today and maybe did the other testing that is done in the office. I hope all went well for you.
No I don't think I know the families that you mentioned. The names sound familiar though. I know a lot of people by their faces adn first names only. I have only lived in Simpson for 15 years. I live in the Flatwood community. I know most people here in this little small neighborhood. I do not get out and mingle with others too much. I stay home alot. My weight limits me so much. I also have back problems so I just dont get out too much.
I got scheduled for my stress test now. I go next Wednesday to Herrin hospital outpatient for that. They say it will take 3-4 hours. That is the last test I have to do.
How do you like Dr. Argotte? I think he is very informative and caring. He truly seems to care about his patients.
Well let me know how things are going for you.

Teresa,
Oh my, I bet you are the same Teresa that they got me confused with at his office in Paducah. They would always have to ask me my date of birth. I thought that was such of coindenience that they had 2 Teresa's spelled the say way.
When did you say you were going to have your surgery? What type are you having? I also started going to Dr. Argotte, September 18th was my first visit where they make you breath and test for bacteria in your stomach or something like that.
I was going to have the sleeve but my insuance will not pay for that so I am now going to have the RNY. It will probably in either late July or early August. Maybe we can be roomies!! I would also like to have someone who I can cmmunicate and talk with. you can email if you wish at [email protected] I check my mail all of the time, probably too much, lol.
Take care and talk with you later,
Teresa B
