Sunday Roll Call

Good morning to everyone in the great state of IL. Can you say "motivational high"? That is where Dave and I were when we left Navy Pier yesterday. I have the spiritual gift of helping people and Dave's is hospitality and leadership. With the combo of those we touched lives. In addition of course to the rest of the staff from LWB.

We are getting rained on here in my neck of the woods. Rainy All of the neighbors are really concerned because our back yards (5 yards and then the rest are all dry) are not draining. We think that there is a pipe somewhere that is leaking underground or something. We have no homes built behind us and it is not sewer water. I do remember when we closed on our house the prior owners said that the reason there are deep ruts  and holes in our back yard (second lot behind us) is because there was a stream back there and was rerouted when the I-290 was put in. I think the water has found its way underground to our houses. We all are going to collectively start showing up at the Village Board meetings as we need help. We are all going to end up with a sink hole and loose our houses.  We should start building this Ark

Sorry for complaining. We are all getting worried.

What is going on in your worlds today? We are going to take advantage of our weekend pass from the train and go west to Bartlett to a Chinese/Japanese restaurant right by the train tracks. Conductor

Still learning many areas around here.  I repaired a lift chair in Hanover Park yesterday and then DW and I went looking for JD Kadds.  Irving Park to Elgin-O'hare to Rowling then right on something and another right on 12/45 that should have been a left. I know I was in Itaska and Bensonville but not sure where else I was except for Franklin Park and then of course Park Ridge.  Just after Franklin Park I desided to stop and get a cheapo compass at an auto parts store.

The BBQ from JD Kadds is very good.  The brisket is almost what one expects at a Texas BBQ stand. The ribs were a little dry but perhaps that was because it was late in the day when we got there.  The smoked polish is good but of course is a new taste for me.

We wandered back up the Northwest Highway to Mt. Prospect where we turned on Elmhurst which is a regular path for us but then I decided towander down Lincoln where we were blessed with seeing some very pretty trees with a white and pink flower. From a distance they look like a wisteria or a dogwood but up close the flowers are thick and woody looking like a magnolia.

What I have the hardest time figuring out is how I got to NW and Elmhurst without seeing Golf Road.

Well enough wanderings for me this morning.  Trying to enjoy this last bit of cool but my psyche was really hyped for some warmer temps and even was prepared to listen to the hogs roar today.

What are you guys doing.

You were a stone's throw from our house when coming east on Irving Park Rd through Itasca. You also passed right by my work when you went over the I-290 expressway bridge. With you being at NW Highway and Elmhurst and then you came south - do you possibly think that you did not go south far enough to get to Golf Rd?

Yes we do have a lot of pretty flowering trees right now. Many of them are crab apple trees (non human fruiting) and several different varieties of magnolias. The shorter white magnolias are very fragrant when you get up close to them. Real soon the Red Bud will be out. They have a very delicate light purple flower.

ps 12/45 is also called Mannheim Rd through most of the suburbs - when you get further north or south is reverts to the numbers. 45 changes name when it goes south and becomes LaGrange Rd and 12/45 when it goes north becomes Milwaukee Ave. 45 when it goes south continues all the way through the state of IL and into KY.

Same idea but the opposite directions.  Traveling from NW and Oakton to NW and Elmhurst without seeing Golf Rd.  Looking at the map on Yahoo, perhaps Golf runs under NW at that point and I am not used to looking for exits on NW.

Yes, Golf Rd is south of NW Highway when coming south on Elmhurst Rd (AKA as Main St through that area). Oh, or are you talking about the NW Tollway? Because there is an exit to Elmhurst RD and then you go north to Golf Rd which is north of Algonquin then Dempster and then Golf is next.

14 -  Golf and Wolf go into a traffic circle and then if I am traveling west from Glenview I end up ducking under a rr bridge which must also be 14.

I am really beginning to like Mt. Prospect as far as neighborhoods go strictly from a drive by observation.  I may have to do a bit more research and see if as this economy swings if I would like to be in real estate here.

Good Morning.

Keep your fingers and toes crossed please. The DH and one SIL or startong tp rebuild a porch on one of our rentals, and we don't need rain this morning. Late afternoon, or this evening will be fine.

My DD just went out to Kmart. and I am heading in to get dressed and do laundry.

Yesterday, I did find a dress with a jacket to take on our Alaskan trip, and also to wear to a wedding we have coming up. Also found a necklace to match it and a pair of errings that will work, but I want to look for something else. Then my other DD gave me a dress that she can't wear anymore, and that too will be traveling with me.

All is good, stop and smell the roses today, and stay safe.

Hugs
LISA

Good rainy, stormy morning all!

Randy, you were right by my house, we live off of Lincoln and Busse.  You missed Golf because of the traffic circle. We call it suicide circle!  LOL!   IF you take the wrong turn off, you end up on NW Hwy instead of Golf. You passed by Noah's school at Lincoln and Elmhurst rd, and that route you took down Lincoln is how we get to and from school everyday.  It is a beautiful area and we love living here!  Mt. Prospect was named the best place in the US to raise your kids!  How cool for us.

Things are going well here, trying to lose that extra pound to get to minus 100, although I have not weighed in this week, maybe I will get on this morning to see where I am at! Ill be sure to let you all know when I get there.

Jeff and I have 16 days til we leave for Disney for our trip by ourselves!  My dad is geering up for watching the kids while we are gone.  Say a prayer for him please!  LOL!

Brig and I have been walking and doing alot around the house, so I am keeping moving and my eating has been better lately.

I am looking forward to the OH conference in June and helping with the clothing exchange.  I cleaned my closet last night and have 6 bags so far to come to the exchange!

I hope everyone has a good day despite the rain.
