Anyone on here a DS patient of DR. Steven Marshall Peoria?/
Hello all,
I haven't posted on here much at all, I usually read alot of what people post and what you all post is usually very helpful. But...this is the one time that I felt I had some information that I could offer that may help.
I had RNY at the end of July of 2008. Dr. Marshall was my Dr. He has done many, many surgeries of all types. One of my siblings is a nurse and has worked in his surgical group. She recommended Dr. Marshall. Also, I have heard some of the staff members at the meetings recommend him as well. He seems to some to be a little rough with the bedside manner but he is very competent and does care about his patients...he's very good at what he does and knows what he is doing. I never had any doubts about having the surgery once I met with him.
I had planned to have lapband but after discussing my situation with him, we felt I would see more success with RNY...and that has proven to be true. I have lost 90 lbs. and have about 30 left to reach My goal which will put me in the normal range with weight and BMI. I am a very short, small boned person, so when I am to goal I should weigh between 100-105. I currently weigh 138 ( as of this morning, but I've been going back and forth for a few weeks). About 8 more lbs. and I will be where he wanted me to reach and thought I could do more.
The thing is...losing weight is never easy to do, but with any of the WLS available you CAN do it because the effort you put in will work! I can't tell you how many times I put in the effort and never saw result before I had the surgery...so, the WLS plus eating properly with some exercise does get us to our goal. Just make sure to do EXACTLY what you are supposed to do and you won't have any regrets. Of course, I always do what they tell me to, that's why we pay them the big bucks right? So, I highly recommend Dr. Marshall. I have a hard time getting to meetings because I live 3 hours away from Peoria but...when summer hits and school is out I'll probably pop in.
Well, I'm sorry to make this so long, but you know how it is, once you decided to respond to something the floodgates open...ha..ha.. Let me know how things are going.

Jazzy,
Jaime Breckenridge (sp?) has had the DS with PSG but I don't remember if it was with Tom Rossi or Stephen Marshall. You may remember from your post on the DS board that I highly recommended any one of the PSG docs that do the DS. They are trauma surgeons in a level 1 trauma hospital. They are talented and smart and know what they are doing. My mother had a RNY with Dr. Marshall almost 10 years ago and she loved him. I don't think you would be making a mistake going with him. Good luck in your search for information.
The nurse practitioner for the bariatric program is (or used to be) Melinda Lange. She is a wonderful person and very helpful. I am sure if you contact his office they would be able to put you in contact with one of his patient's to get a more personal insight.

Thank you melinda is still there and she is so very nice. I have only met with him one and he seems to be very intelligent. I was just wondering about otehrs experiences. I heard Dr. Rossi has the best bedside manner but when I asked melinda who had performed the most ds she said Dr. Marshall plus he is one of the top trauma surgeons. I am just scared to death to have any surgery done so I get cold feet every once in awhile. The anesthsia is what scares me I am afarid I will not wake up. Thank you for being so nice on here and giving your advice. All I have left is my first steps class and then I should get a date I hope. Well take care and thanks for everything. GOD bless!!!
