see that's what I was thinking Dawn.

I have been taking naps almost every day because I get so tired during the day.  That's not like me either, I have had so much energy since losing weight and now I feel tired often.

As for the B12...I don't take it.  They told me that I didn't need it..but I KNOW that I DO...I bought some sublingual B12 today at Sam's club..it's 2500mcg....

what is the chewable iron you got?  I am pretty sure I need that for the Ferritan too right?
I will go and check my email now....I just got home from the Orthopedic Dr with Tyler

First, I am NO doctor, but I have been around the block quite a bit.

I won't lie to you...your B12 looks a bit scary to me. Because of intrinsic factor, RNY folks need to take B12. The liver stores a lot of B12, but eventually it is depleted and a deficiency will catch up with you, with serious consequences.

I have read different things, and I know what the range is on our lab value charts, but most sources say that our B12 should be 400+, or else we could experience irreversible neuropathy. I'd start taking a B12 sublingual daily--STAT!

As to the PTH/calcium equation, it seems to my lay eyes that you need more calcium. Your PTH is showing that your body is close to or already may be leeching calcium from your bones to keep your blood calcium at okay levels (it's at the high level). You don't want osteoporosis. I'd up your calcium citrate another dose and see what happens to your numbers in 3 months.

As to your D, you may want to take a calcium citrate with D in it, like Costco's Kirkland brand. Theirs has 800 IUs of D in it, as well as magnesium, zinc, and some other goodies. That might help boost those numbers. And, of course, try and get some real sunshine each day, as it is getting nice out. 10-15 minutes on your face and hands every day could really help boost those numbers and make you feel better.

Also, here's a thought. The iron in your multivitamin is likely being cancelled out by the calcium in it or the calcium you are taking at the same time (if you are taking them at the same time). You may want to think about taking a separate iron pill, far away from the time you take your calcium, as they compete for the same receptors in the body (iron usually seems to lose that race). This might give you some more energy.

Just some thoughts. I hope you get this straightened out soon.

BTW, here's a decent site for quick and easy lab test info:

Thank you Nicolle for your input and I feel the same way you too. I have a feeling that my body is almost done using up the reserve B12 especially since my surgeon or nut have never told me that I should be taking B12....    I did buy some sublingual yesterday though and will start to take it today!   I don't take my calcium and multi's together.   I do take my Calcium and my Vit D together.

Thank you for that site, I am going to bookmark it and check it out!  Thanks again!
