Good morning my IL friends!  Well...I ran my first 5k race yesterday!  I ran the whole thing and finished!  So my next goal is to keep doing them and improve my time.  This was the first full week off with no babysitting and it was wonderful!  I'm glad to hear everyone is hanging in there!  I LOVE Sam's Club!  Took my dad there last week and he did real well!  He only ran into 1 freezer and the glass doors going outside with his electric cart once:)  I hope everyone is safe in todays weather.  It shouldn't be to bad.  My yard is calling my name!!!  TTYL my friends!!!..........................Kim

Hey Kim- Congrats on finishing the race!
What an accomplishment that is!
I bet you felt great that you were able to finish...I don't know if I could run that long.

Good Morning Illinois,

I am not sure if we are to get the snow that is predicted or not. They are saying its  suppose to be worst the farther N. you go,  Our power was out for a bit this morning, but it came back on. Not sure why, since it wasn't raining at the time.

Last night we went to Bloomington, to our daughters. She was celebrating her birthday. We had a very nice time. A friend of hers is a semi-professional singer, and he played and sang for almost an hour. This is how he trys out new stuff.

We used to visit alot of restaurant supply stores when  we had carnival food units. They are great places to get things.

I am going to be cooking today. DH wants a Swiss steak for dinner. And, I want to make chopped liver for me. I know it is full of fat, but its also a great source of protein.

Other then that, just going to hang out at home and watch some TV.

Stay safe, warm and dry.

Hugs

LISA

Dave and I are collectively doing some cooking today. he is making egg salad (with some shredded chicken added for more protein) and I am doing a chicken stir fry later.

I have tried and tried liver and really cannot tolerate the texture of it even when it is cooked superbly. Dave loves liver. He will get it when we go to a restaurant that excels in making it like Claim Jumper.

It is still hard to believe that we are having some snowy weather later today in the 'burbs and the rest of northern IL as it is sunny here.

I took my walk yesterday, got the laundry finished for DH and helped my DD get the bathroom cleaned in the old house they are moving too! I was carrying in boxes and her DH said he would get them and I said no no this is upper body exercise! He looked at me strange. Today I am going to put in a new kitchen faucet, and scrub the kitchen down, it was left really nasty by the last tenants. OK then I will bring the 2 kids home with me so mom can go back and forth with dad to pack more stuff up.
That's my day!
We had thunder hail last night, it was really neat, lighting and thunder and then ice... Windy today.  Well need to get DH breakfast so he can head out over to Des Moines for his first delivery, I hope with the wind all of 80 will be open.

Have a great day!

Karen

Good Morning Christina and Illinois Friends!

I am recovering from my day yesterday!  Whew, it was a busy day.  I dont think I stopped.  I made it to Rockford by 7:30 am.  Then I decided to go to the Super Walmart to kill time for PetSmart to open.  I did all of my regular shopping except for the cold and frozen foods.  Then I went to PetSmart to pick up the one thing I needed there.

While at PetSmart, I saw a dog toy that looked just like a real rabbit.  My hairdress was just talking about wanting to find a real looking rabbit for her granddaughter for Easter, so I grabbed it too.

Came home and went to pick up a package at the post office that I had to sign for, then to my hairdressers to drop off the rabbit.  Then to our local Walmart to get the frozen foods.

Came home and visited with my neighbor for a while, put my stuff away and got ready for our animal shelter auction.  I was there by 4pm.  It was a good night.  I worked one of the raffle booths and spent too much money.  But it was for a good cause.  Twice I was trying to get people to bid up on items because they were going ridicuoulsy cheap and I ended up getting them.  I got a limited edition, numbered collector plate for $15  and a $365 picture for $65.  I also got a stained glass cat and a couple of baskets of cat toys for the cats.  They liked their loot!

Today, I am hibernating.  I am worried about my great nephew.  He is 22 months old and in the hospital with a temp of 106.  They have done a cat scan, an mri, spinal tap and all sorts of tests.  They are suspecting a massive infection in the sinuses.  They have decided to remove his tonsils when he gets better.  The sad part of all of this is his veins collapsed and the only place they could start an IV was on one of the two fingers that he sucks.  He sucks these fingers instead of his thumb.  Just like his Aunt did.  Anyway, he is one sick, sad child.

Also found out last night that Beemer's surgery was more problematic than I realized.  His doctor said the tumor was much deeper this time and if it grows back again, he probably will lose part of his ear!

Well thats enough writing of my life.  Thanks for reading if you made it this far!

Hi Nancy-got tired just reading your post....you were really busy yesterday. Somedays being busy keeps me out of the refrigerator.
I'll keep your great nephew in my prayers.

Good Morning Chris and the rest of IL!

I have been up since about 9:30am, I just can't seem to catch up on sleep and it's not even like my mom and I stayed up late in Vegas..it's weird.  Doesn't help that I am still sick and I am pretty sure it's a sinus infection now too.  I'll probably go to the Dr tomorrow for it.  I was sick the whole week in Vegas too!  Didn't stop me from having fun!

Today Tyler has a meeting about becoming an umpire for baseball this summer so while he's there, Jacob and I will be going to Woodman's to restock the house with food!  lol  Mike and Austyn didn't buy anything while I was gone and we're out of a lot of things.  Tyler's meeting is 2 hours so that will be plenty of time for us.   After that, it's home and who knows what I'll do then.  I do have to do some laundry for the kids, so they have clean clothes to go back to school tomorrow though.

I hope everyone has a great day and that the weather doesn't get bad at all!!

Monica

Hello friends!

We were busy yesterday because we had a dinner party for 16 of our knitting friends to celebrate another birthday. We think we have one a month planned out for a while. We cooked a porketta which is a rolled and stuffed pork roast which we buy in Madison at Fraboni's. It is just spectacular. Kay also baked a red velvet cake and decorated it for the birthday person. This is such a fun group of people and we wouldn't have known any of them except for the knitting together. what is so amazing is that the husbands who don't know each other at all seem to enjoy each other--how rare is that!

I also had a baby shower to attend for one of my residents. She will be moving to WI to be a doctor there in a couple of months. I will really miss her. She is a wonderful doc!

We've got lots of stuff going on this week and I  probably won't be on line much. I'll check in when I can.
