I recently sent off papers to see if i would qualify to see the dr. regarding WLS and so i heard back and they told me that there were a few things in the papers that were a litle concerning so they want me to get an evaulation with a counseler.  Is this normal and what do i expect when i go see a counseler?

I am going to guess that you mean that they want you to see a psychologist or other psychotherapist? Sometimes some people in what they say or their testing shows that there is an issue and it needs to be addressed before they go on for surgery. Yes, there are patients I am sure on this site that has happened to. For myself I did not have to but both my husband and I had to see a psychologist for clearance.

Look at it this way - it is important that whatever red flag(s) are seen right now are addressed because it could cause a stumbling block to your successful weight loss. You will have to wait and see what the professional has to say regarding your situation. You more than likely will learn a lot about yourself and may heal whatever possibly is going on with you.

What will happen varies from patient to patient at the sessions. You will sit down with the professional and you will be asked questions in regards to what is of concern in your paperwork. It might take one, two or more sessions.  I cannot comment any further on that because I am not a clinician nor do I know anything more about you. Hope this helps.
