Slim Fast on the Slow

Hello all, Cory here:

Its been a little over 2 weeks since my surgery. I'm doing great.

I went for my 2 week post op visit yesterday, and I'm down a TOTAL of 30 pounds since January. The process seems slow, but I know it will get better. I'm still anxious to see the weight melt off when I look at myself in the mirrior and compare myself to a toothpick..LOL.

My wife has been very supportive and at times when I mention all of the benefits of my weight loss, things that we will enjoy, it sends us both to the moon.

I appreciate the inspiring words of encouragement, the emails and all the posts. I know God will provide extra stength for me to continue with my new journey in life.

Thank God for you all and may he bless all of you. God is good!

You are doing great!  I was surprised, that the weight did not just rapidly "melt" off.  However, I found myself losing around 2 - 5 pounds a week and I had lost 100 pounds within the first 6 months.  Guys lose faster than gals so you will be finding outstanding results soon!

Dont tempt yourself to get on the scale too often.  Those things are pure evil!!!!  For the first 4 - 5 months I never weighed at home, only at my surgeon's office.  That way I could not get upset with the stalls.  Because, there will be stalls.  I hit one at 3 weeks, another at 3 months and a huge one that has lasted 3 months.  You just have to ride out those darned stalls.  It seems like when the weight loss stalls, that is when I change in size of clothing.  So, you may want to take some measurements to track your progress!

Keep us posted on your wonderful, exciting journey!

Hi Cory,
We have all been following your story, what with Mari giving us day to day info. You are doing great!  Remember, this is not a race, the weight will come off. All of a sudden you will see that the shirt that was a bit tight will be to loose on you. Or, a pair of slacks that are in the back of your closet will fall down on you. And then people who haven't seen you for a while will wonder how much weight you have lost. Your journey has just started. Enjoy it!

Hugs,

Lisa

Sorry,  Slim Fast?

Do not compare yourself to anyone else. You know the weight did not go on overnight do you expect it to come off overnight? Your body will let go of the weight when it wants to.

Christine, (Mari here)

I believe what Cory meant was that he was slimming down slowly. He looks at people like Dave, who lost 100 pounds in 2 months and since Cory lost 5 pounds in two weeks, he got a bit discouraged. This is the beginning for him and sometimes we can all be guilty of (when we are new to things like this) comparing ourselves to others. The slim fast part was just part of his strange humor. He was just seeking some support...yes, he realizes he didn't gain it overnight and that he won't lose it overnight...he's just a little anxious. Thanks for your post.

Dear Cory:

You are doing great!  When is the last time you lost 30 pounds in 3 months?  I was a slow loser also, but that is OK.  Keep with the program and you will do fine.

You and Mari are so lucky to have found each other!

Tell someone that you love them!
