WHY WHY WHY Cant people just SHUT UP!!!

WHY WHY WHY I swear I'm stomping my feet and having a fit  I understand that people care about my well being, but everyone I mean EVERYONE that I talk to about WLS is negative. I hear its not good for you, people die from that, if god meant you to have a small stomach you would!! I just want to have my surgery and LIVE!! I want to be free of high blood pressure, diabetes, depression, no social life! I mean my goodness I'm not living now!! This is a BIG reason I chickened out on March 6th. Everyone in my life scared the snot outta me...... I cant live this way anymore! 

There is a lot of prejudice about the over weight and weight loss surgery in our society. Even my own family was against my having RNY. The word for all forms of prejudice is ignorance. Ignorance is not stupidity but a lack of knowledge. Few people know the facts and they hear rumors and half truths or even out and out fabrications and take them as fact. In my case 3 other family members, (Extended family - sisters, cousins, uncles aunts etc.), have now had WSL and one more is awaiting approval. My family now fully supports WSL and thinks it has been wonderful for me.
Remember not long ago people said "if God wanted men to fly..."
Good thing Orville and Wilbur didn't listen to them.

You are welcome but that's why we are here to support and inform each other. I know that you are a friend and struggling to deal with which surgery to have and maybe whether to even have ti surgery. You are doing the right thing by asking a lot of questions. Ask your surgeon as well, See other surgeons and get their opinions. There are pluses and minuses to each of the surgeries. None of them is perfect for everyone. All require a commitment to work the post surgical to get the results. This is a tool to lose weight. Those that fail don't work it well or did not do the proper research to get what was best for them.

What you are going through is the main reason Dave and I did not tell many people about our surgeries. In fact his family STILL does not know about it other then his one cousin that lives in Bartlett. She only knows because a mutual friend opened his big fat yap. The rest of his family lives in IA and DE.

Well, what you need to do is educate yourself so that when people bring up the negative things you can inform them gently what the accurate information is.

oh my gosh tomorrow's your big day.  It will be great. A lady who had this done when I had my RNY came in the morning and went home that night.  I wish you the best and have happy thoughts today because tomorrow you take more control of your life.
