Blood pressure
I do not know how high Crystal's BP was before surgery but her having a low bp with no meds after surgery and this quickly sure peaks my interest. The meds I am being given over the last year do not seem to do anything but make me mad that I am spending money on them and the docs giving them to me. Since they keep yammering away about how my bp is going to cause me a heart attack or stroke shouldn't they be jumping on making wls happen sooner?
I agree with you. High BP is the "silent killer" they keep telling us about - so DOCS - give Randy his WLS NOW!!
On a side note I was recently put back on BP meds because my doc thinks I have a "leaky valve". I was so depressed because of it. After I thought about it for a while and after I realized how much better I felt after the meds took affect I did not feel so bad. I know this does not have anything to do with your situation but I just needed to vent, (but not at you) thank you for reading.

Randy you will think that would make the Drs. move faster, I was also on BP meds but now my
BP is very low, that tell me I have BP of a teenager,
Is it your DRs. or INS comp that is making you wait?

Success begins with wise choices I make,I will not let noncompliance be my mistake, The surgery I had was to assist me in changes. My compliance is for a success long range, So I will think before I decide to cheat. Remember the goals I want to meet. For this surgery is not something I was force to do It was what I wanted for a healthy life!
I can only add to this that I also now have low BP. After surgery, the first year, I had VERY low BP like 90/54.......it didn't cause me any problems, but it was weird to go from elevated to so low.
Now, at 2.5 years out, my BP is normal, about 110/70 (ish.......)
My doctor's (PCP) explanation was that my heart did ot have to work as hard after I lost weight, but it actaully began before I lost THAT much weight and I never DID lose past the "obese" category of BMI........mmmmmmmmmmmmmm?

Hi Randy,
Before my surgery I was taking diovan hctz 120mg/24mg , after surgery my PCP put me on diovan 80mg. after 6 months my BP is nearing normal and I may soon stop taking BP meds.
The weight loss and daily exercise has really helped normalize my bp.
I am sorry to hear you are having trouble finding a BP medicine to help you, my colleague at work had similar problem, she kept getting new prescriptions and they were not helping, some days they made her fall asleep at work. Of course the money spent for medicine that is not helping is a real aggravation too.
Can your doctor give you some samples to try ?
Best wishes to you,
Cathy

I was given samples of one of my bp meds for 21 days by my medical weight loss doc and told to follow up with my primary. I made an appointment with my pcp to come close to the end of the 21 days. Unfortunately three days before that appointment I got a GI bug and was dehydrated when I saw my pcp having lost 12 pounds in those 3 days. My bp was slightly down so he just wrote me a scrip for more of the same but then when I saw the weight loss guy it was right back up there. 180/100 I try to tell myself that the bp taking process is somehow messed up on me since the machine I have always just says error but works fine on DW. Telling myself that is little comfort when some evenings I get really woozy and mean the if I should die before I wake part of my prayers.
