Calories at a year out

When I saw Dr R yesterday I asked him how many calories I should be getting at a year out and he told me to go see/talk to the nurtitionist.  He said that he didn't know!!
Well I can't afford an appointment with the nut right now, so can anyone give me some ideas how many calories I should be getting/staying around at one year out??
Thanks!

Monica

Boy, I wish I had a good answer for THAT one!
Is it possible for you to call or email your NUT?

I hear that we should be around 1200 calories per day.  Some say 800-1200, some say more.  Many "rules" say that less than 1200 calories per day will tell you body it is in "starvation" mode and will not lose.

My NUT won't give me a straight answer so it might not even help to talk to yours.  Did they give you anything at your first meeting/classes that might give you a clue to their protocol?

There are some online calculators that are supposed to help you figure out what your requirements are and here is one:
http://www.thinnerself.com/files/calculator.htm

But take even this with a grain of salt.  One other thing that was suggested to me was to have my base metabolic rate tested.  I hear that you can have this done at the "Y" or some gyms.  I have not found out anymore about this in my area but you may have better luck.

Tell someone that you love them!

Since I had lapband not sure but I still follow the 1/2 cup food 6x's daily. I will see my NUT next Thursday and I think I might ask her I really haven't gave it a thought!
By the way congrats on a good yr. You look great in the avatar. Here's to another fabulous yr!

You my dear should know the answer to this question. 1000-1200 a day whether the band or RNY per our Dr R.

I just never give calories a thought. I just eat several times daily and eat the food the way Brianna told me to and it works for me. If I had to count calories I would not eat right I really don't have time to think about how much to eat. I just know I get in around 200 cals for each meal so I guess that comes to about 1200... So I guess in the back of my mind I did know!

Dana told me (at 3 months out) about 900-1000 calories per day.  Don't know if that helps.  You could call or email her too.

Dana is correct for our practice for where you are at. For our practice Dr R wants us at no more than 1000-1200 for the rest of our lives.

The answer you received is why I am so happy that I went with my Dr R. He tells his patients to remain at 1000-1200 a day. He even mentions this at his seminars and to the time frame of how long to eat a meal and how much to eat in a day.

Sorry, I am shaking my head with Dr Rantis's response to you. Make sure that the NUT you go to is WLS friendly. ACTUALLY, I guess that we are your NUT right now since you cannot make it to one. Sorry, Dave just said he lost a lot of stock in Dr Rantis with your statement about him not knowing how many calories to eat in a day.

He really surprised me when he told me that he didn't know, I first thought he was joking!  I really felt kinda rushed too with him, he stepped out of the room to take 2 phone calls that he got as well, which is fine, but it got kinda annoying too.  I asked him something else about when I squat down and then stand up, I get light headed and things go black for a few seconds until I get my bearings about me and he told me I should talk to my family Dr, he wasn't sure either.  I guess I just expected him to at least know what his patients should be eating at a year out ya know?  I'm glad it's not just me that thinks it's odd.

Monica, that sounds like a little bit of a blood pressure issue with being light headed etc.
